I’m making a build that will have just power with no precision or crit damage in order to provide more support. I’m wondering if power without precision will provide decent damage so I don’t massively slow down a dungeon group. My build has full soldier and empower allies for 150 power to everyone else. What do you think the power should be at to be doing good damage?

You you should be fine if you MAXED out power!

Max Power on trait points, Power on runes, Armor, trinkets, weapons ext.. Power being the primary stat on everything you have and it should be ok damage wise.

You will do zero crit hits or crit damage but your attacks will be consistent at a very high base damage amount.

I don’t do dungeons any more so no idea if peeps will say you are slowing them down, but in other areas of the game like open world and wvw, a power build meant to support is quite fine. You won’t be seeing huge crits, but you can still push out adequate damage.

Hey dude you are walking into a wall.

if u have power as major attribute for all the gear you wear, basically all soldiers gear, your attack (power + weapon damage) should be around 3.1k which is good enough for decent support damage.

I’m sorry to say that, but your concept of supporting is somewhat wrong. You don’t have to give up on offensive stats in order to grant valuable support.

Healing power scales terribly and you can’t really quickly heal up someone who missed a dodge. Aggro management is tricky and damage factor is involved, so being full knight or full soldier is not going to make you a tank. The support that matters – banners, aegis, blind, stability, projectile reflection, vulnerability, might stacking – works equally well in all kinds of gear. Besides, the sooner you kill, the safer you are.

I’m wondering if power without precision will provide decent damage so I don’t massively slow down a dungeon group.

I’m afraid not. Buffed in offensive gear you have close to 100% critical chance and at least 100% critical damage. It means you will pretty much all the time hit for 2.5 of what your regular, precision-less attack would be.

Since you are talking about the Warrior class and about pve. Just go full berserker on all gear. You will have a base HP of almost 20K with full dps traits and armor. That is a TON compared to all other classes.

Your support comes from doing a lot of dmg, banners, shake it off, and for great justice. All skills that buff your team up tremendously. No other class can provide that kind of offensive support while not giving up on dmg.

Go with a 30/25/0/0/15 build using a GS and Axe/mace. The most popular spec for warriors just got nerfed so taking empower allies is a waste now.

I’m having the impression from your post that you’re running a shoutheal EA warrior build and I’d just go ahead and be blunt.

Just running that build is slowing your team down. As a warrior, you’re not there to support, you’re there to do damage, and if you want to be optimal with it, Berserker gear is the way to go.

If you’re not completely comfortable running Berserker gear, you can start off running Knight’s and replacing pieces as you become more prominent in running dungeons.

I tried once full soldier gear and i tought i was doing well until i switched back to full berserker and saw a huge difference. I would very much like to play different builds, especially considering that i’m running berserker gear on all toons, but unfortunately anet decided to make other gear way less efficient. If you’re in full soldier gear, then sure you’ll survive a bit longer, but enemies will die slower, which means there is more chance your teammates will die and then you are alone trying to fight enemy which you can’t kill (bosses) because you lack dps and they can’t kill you if you’re at least decent player with soldier gear. So, in short, you’re wasting time with never ending fights.

The thing is, if you’re in soldier gear, you only help yourself to stay alive longer, you don’t help your teammates. If you’re good enough to survive in berserker gear, then there is zero reasons to take soldier over berserker, because you survive in both, but in berserker you do way more damage.
