You get stacks for each enemy killed that you tagged. It doesn’t matter if you were the last to hit it.

Yes as long as you can keep the stacks. You don’t need to last hit. You just need to get credit for the kill.

Nah they aren’t worth it. You’re better off with going for Force+Night sigils or Force+X Slaying (for example, Undead Slaying in Arah or Sigil of Justice for CM).

The only time bloodlust stacks are worth bothering for are if you’re trying to go for a record boss kill time. For example, if you wanted to get the fastest possible Lupicus solo or whatever.

However these days no one really cares about Lupicus solos since everyone and their mom can do it.

There is no last-hitting in GW2, just so you know.

Tagging in GW2 works as such:

  • The amount of loot you get from a mob is based on how much damage you and your party do to that mob.
  • However, notwithstanding the statement above, you as an individual must do at least one (1) damage to the mob to receive any loot.

Is that actually true?

Pretty sure it’s:

1.) You must do at least X amount of damage to receive any loot, but you will not receive better/more loot for doing more damage than the minimum required.

If you only do a very small amount of damage, you will get much worse loot, but the threshold is fairly low, so most of the time, for decent builds, this isn’t noticeable. Your party members’ damage, however, is taken into account as if it were your own damage, but you yourself must still tag the mob in order to receive credit.

In total, yes (as you won’t tag many mobs), but per mob it isn’t true. The drop dependence on damage is purely binary – you either qualify or not. There are no grades of “better loot” there.

Bloodlust is mostly ideal in WvW (less so in sPVP) because you get 5 stacks per kill there.

I gave up on stacking sigils when they started to make then useless in LS2 instances
and later also personal story, because mobs that give no exp also give no stacks.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

Bloodlust’s value depends on your build. The tankier you are, the more useful it is. If you are downed, you lose all your stacks, so full zerk builds don’t benefit from bloodlust (or any stacking sigil) all that much. A better choice is a sigil that gives a proc on crit (Air or Fire or Blight are good ones), or a flat always-on bonus (Force is the best).

You will see people running them more in WvW. I use them in WvW on my Warrior since I’m in full Soldiers gear to help boost my power. It fills up really quick with player kills and I go long stretches between deaths so I get a lot of milage out of the extra power.

The personal story mobs actually DO give stacks despite the fact that LS2 ones don’t. Neither of them give exp or loot. This also means there is really no reason for the mobs in LS2 to be that way.

be aware that if you have stacks and dive into water, and at least one of your water weapons doesnt have the same sigil, you will lose all stacks. I’m not sure but I think that might be true if you remove your weapon with the sigil from your set too.

Lol this is very incorrect…

The tankier you are the less and less of a percentage your own damage matters in a group, because you’ll have horrible offensive attributes if you have tank gear. A person wearing full berserker benefits way more from having extra power because damage is something they are focused on.

I think there is a piece to this that is missing, as it happens to me all the time. A great place to see it in action is the 3 champs before Jungle Wurm.

“If you aren’t in the first ‘n’ of people to attack and damage a mob, you get nothing. Whether you then ‘like it’ is entirely up to you.”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come to a champ even ‘slightly’ late, maybe it’s taken 5-10% damage, and I don’t get a bag. Conversely, I’ve hit a champion that I’ve been one of the first ‘n’ people to hit just a few times and sat back and watched the rest of the fight, and still gotten my blue bag.

I don’t know what ‘n’ is, but I’m convinced it exists, and it should ‘not’ exist. You should always at least get a blue bag. What’s interesting is this rule doesn’t seem to matter with respect to quest completion. If you need the kill count for something, you’ll get that, you just won’t get loot if you weren’t one of the first ‘n’ on it.

Hm .. i remember that the mobs in phase 1 at Claw of Jormag event also didn’t gave
exp and also no stacks long ago before LS2.
I also never was in a PS instance with a stacking sigil since they changed the mobs
there to give no loot anymore.

“First to hit” seems to matter a lot, but I believe this is a form of client-server latency. In small or medium groups, it doesn’t matter much: there’s no difference that I’ve noticed between hitting first or last.

In zerg-sized groups, it does matter and I speculate this is due to our computers misrepresenting or misunderstanding the amount of damage the server thinks we have delivered. When we are late to a battle, our clients report to us every time we’ve met the conditions to cause damage. However, given the large number of players and various other latencies we see, I speculate that it does not accurately communicate that number to the servers.

To put it more simply, we think we just did 10k damage but the server didn’t notice. And as a result, we might not be assigned any loot.

Regardless, this doesn’t affect sigils of bloodlust significantly. The threshold for incrementing sigil stacks is really low. Against mobs of foes, you’ll build up max stacks quickly and against a major boss, you won’t.

Did not use to be the case, I apologize for the bad info. I keep one on my staff for wvw but used to keep a separate staff for stack and swap purposes. Too bad they changed it. I did take a long break so meh
