I love RP and I’m currently stuck in Ruins of Surmia. I heard Piken Square is the RP paradise. Is switching there worth those 1800 gems, now that we have the megaserver and all?

Considering that I also really hate WvW in Ruins of Surmia. It’s a very bad WvW server, people there only karma farm and are unfriendly, bad commanders surround themselves with guildies to fend off any criticism. On the other hand I see that Piken is one of the top WvW servers.

Is the server transfer worth it?

WvW is good on Piken. If you really like to play that, then the switch may be worth it to you.

To RP you don’t need to switch servers. We are all on Megaservers. I recommend trying to find an RP guild.

Piken Square for sure is or was the best EU server, especially for RP people but also for PVE in general and it even does good in WvW.

Mega-servers did however destroy that a little. Then again, if you are a RP guy then at the least if your guild go’s into WvW you can join them. So even with the damage from the mega-server I think it’s worth switching.

What Andraus says. Still with Piken, (from first day) and even though obvious merits of the mega server system, I remember the family feeling in Piken. It stood out for myself as I guested quite a bit back then (there were a couple of servers that came close though Deso also leaving me with fond memories).

So ye, no need to spend gems to join in an RP guild in Piken.

I’m on Piken Square and as others have said, transfer mostly worth it for WvW. We’re in a reasonable position with WvW at the moment.

It does still pose an advantage for RP if you’re natively in Piken Square, as you almost always end up in the ‘correct shard’ when walking through zones with your RP buddies. But to be honest with you, if you’re not really into WvW or you don’t have trouble finding friends to party up with to join shards, not really worth the transfer cost.

Piken Square is a great community though, so even you remain in Ruins of Surmia, as long as you’re RPing with us, you’re Piken at heart anyway, and I’m sure most if not all Piken Square players would welcome you.

Piken Square is more than just a server. Piken Square is the people too!

Piken aint bad. Just beware for servers like far shiverpeaks who have mainly in the evening very strong guilds which will crush you.

If you’re a member of server you will typically be stuck with members of that server before others. As a Toast player I’m always around RPers even though I’m not in any significant guilds.

So if you join Piken it will hook you up with more opportunities for RP and of course give you the WvW too.
