Let me first state that I am at best a very mediocre player. I am an old fart of 52, who decided for some strange reason to make 4 characters and learn them all the crafting skills, while exploring the GW2 world area by area. I succeeded becoming level 80 and if my huntsman reaches 400 I succeeded in my goal (all 8 crafts learned).

However, since learning all crafting skills requires a lot of money and a lot of travelling (to get all ingredients); I normally travel a lot through the waypoints; Since a few days however, I die very often on the “simpler” areas (level 1-15, 15-25) and it also give me so little money, that I can not travel through waypoint as uch as i used to do. My armor has not changed, and my skills could really not be worse,so …

It the game made more difficult? (especially on “lower” areas?); it really takes the fun out of my play when I die a lot whenever I meet an veteran.

When did you start playing? or when did you notice the change? If I remember correctly, they tweaked the downscaling a bit to make it more challenging if you’re a high level player in a lower-level area.

Don’t disturb me, I have a cat in me at the moment.

My latest 80 is a mesmer, and leveling him was torture.

Low level mesmers always have been horrid to play, but after the patch that buffed krait a few months back, I had to skip large portions of the game.

Even yesterday my engineer had to run from a Krait boss at the southern hylek camp in sparkfly fen. She summoned 6 adds to protect herself. >_<

So yeah, it’s harder. Krait areas are much harder.

The only way to play the engineer is to exploit it.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.

There was an adjustment made a while ago to the gameplay experience for high level players entering lower-level zones.

The devs decided to make the lower level zones more challenging in order to entice higher levelled players back to help populate these zones. Perhaps this is why the “Mentor Event” achievement is on our dailies so often?

Are you fighting the new mobs that appear from the holograms? Those are a lot harder than the regular mobs around low level zones

If you are undergeared for your level, i.e. still having the same gear as when you started leveling from crafting, you will probably be taking stat losses from downscaling. Just update your gear to blues or greens close to your current level and you should do fine.

strangely enough i noticed my 30 in toughness and 20 in vitality trait lines don’t grant me immortality on my mesmer anymore, this since the latest patch it is also true that i changed my armor from carrion to rampager giving up 2kish health point but still i’m finding more difficoult time both in pvp and in pve

Yes, that is exactly my problem. I haven’t change anything , since i am doing all kind of stuff for my other three low level characters, but the things I could do in May and the beginning of June are now too difficult for me. I can understand this for Malkor’s Leap (just scouting that area and dying all the time to be thrown back to far away waypoints), but that is also the case in Diessa plateau and even Plains of Ashford!

Totally ruins the game for me at the moment and I am very afraid that when I start with a new Necro, it will be too hard to learn

Wow, solved it! For some strange reason my trait points were reset. No wonder I fought like a sissy and lost hitpoints like icecream in the desert…

Still, it would be nice if someone warned me about that (the game?)…

Some traits were changed in the last patch (i.e., traits moved from Master to Grandmaster, etc.). If you had such traits, they were reset. It was in the patch notes.

Well, that at least explaines why they were reset! still, it would be nice if it was not only mentioned in the patch notes, but also on screen. Now I played a few days without noticing it and could well have abandoned the game because of it… Taking the fun out of a game does that to people…
