Guardians of the Vault [GotV] and Guíld of Dívíne Soldíers [GoDS]

I’m curious about this unique-looking tree or bush, which I’ve noticed around Queensdale while working on dailies.
The first time I noticed it was last week, beside the road between Lexi’s trading post and Claypool. This morning it was no longer there (that’s odd in itself; I’d gone there specifically to get a screenie of it) but is now just west of the Fields waypoint.
It appears to be the only one of its kind, and I’m trying to figure out what real-world tree it’s based on.
Looks like heather to me. I’m not an expert, but I do know a few plant names.
The flowers appear similar and so does the texture of the leaves.
That Bush has been there since i started playing more than 2 years ago – another one like that should be located slightly south to the Crossing-Waypoint (i’am pretty sure there are more of them, but i don’t pay much attention to the vegetation :P)
Or it could just be a random bush that was not intentionally based on anything in real life.

That’s probably the one I initially noticed. But today it wasn’t there for whatever reason. Maybe the different overflow maps have the vegetation placed differently?
It’s pretty, whatever it is.
I’d call it frutex multipedes kryta.
Tt is native in Tyria and not an known plant on earth.
I agree that it looks like heather or gorse. Some type of hardy, probably evergreen, shrub.
But the actual shape is more likely explained by how it’s grown than the type of plant. If it was a real plant (and therefore grown and not drawn/modelled) my guess would be that the section on the left is the main body of the plant and most of it’s branches are raised up the stem either to keep them out of reach of grazing/browsing animals or because the lower branches have been eaten.
The bit on the right looks like a branch that was growing upwards then broke off, but not completely, so it’s still alive and now growing upwards again from it’s new position.
**sigh**My mother is a horticulturalist, honestly some of the horticultural errors in the game would make her go crazy lol
Like ‘Variegated’ herbs/veggies or whatever it is…it’s clearly intended to mean varied, but variegated actually means some thing different altogether (it refers to a variety of a plant having bi- or parti-coloured leaves)
And then there’s all the plants wrongly classified or growing in the wrong climate zones…if you tried to take it at all seriously you’d go mad mad mad lol
It does remind me of a Tamerix. We have one in the garden and while the leaves are a lot darker green, they are small, almost scale like leaves that give the plant a slightly feathery look. Its fast growing, branches can grow about 2m a year if not heavily pruned and then can bend towards the ground as they become too heavy with all the new growth at the tip.
I’m always amused by people wanting to make Tyria an exact parallel to Earth. As long as the game world is internally consistent, I don’t think we should draw too many conclusions from differences across the universes.
In Tyria:
It’s only a problem if one thinks that Tyria should mirror Earth. I try to assume that Tyria just needs to follow its own rules and not to worry about whether stuff in the game matches something in real life.
tl;dr my toon’s got 99 problems, but a “variegated vegetable” that isn’t ‘variegated’ ain’t one.
