Is there a real fight against ingame spam?
Happens in every game, in World of Warcraft they spam you with battle tag invites. In Final Fantasy XIV you walk in town and there is so much gold spam you have to ignore 3-6 people just to see the chat.
Believe it or not, Guild Wars 2 is the best game I ever played in regards to eliminating gold spam and bots. You’re just simply going to have to keep reporting, nothing will ever truly stop it unfortunately.
Also you will get infracted for that image as it exposes character names and a website that sells gold, you should remove it.
If they wouldn’t do anything against it, you would get whispers every 10 seconds, or there were bots standing in each map that spam the zone-chat every 5 seconds, and of course not only from that one goldseller site but from 50 different sites.
I remember when i tested Cabal Online or some other F2P Games, and before i just found out how to mute the zone-chat you already were spammed with 10+ Goldseller message.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I’ll be honest, as others have said, it’s basically non-existent in this game. I’ve only seen one MMO handle it better. More could be done, I agree, but I’m satisfied for now.
I am now getting this EVERY night around 10-20 times. Report/Blocking them all. It is infuriating!! PLEASE we need a GW2 authenticator/IP Lock. It is obvious these are hacked accounts.
Just going to reinforce what others have said. GW2 is the most bot/spam-free MMO I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. I’ve gotten those whispers now and then, but it’s no struggle to ignore them, block them, etc. Honestly, I have more issues with in-game players harassing people who don’t play the way they do than I have from bots. Bots aren’t intelligent. They don’t have any way to continue harassing you once you block them. Humans do.
curse my dependence on sleep for survival!
Okay that’s really weird. Players are reporting that they’re getting spam like several times a night, yet I haven’t received one for the past two nights. Must be RNG.
OP, this might be informative: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Many-hacked-accounts-Be-Careful/first#post3949482
Apparently, they pick people up when in a hub like Vigil’s Keep or the Mists, and then send a bunch of PMs from a variety of accounts over the next few hours.
I saw a thread the other day asking to filter out private messages, but it got closed by a moderator for being in the wrong forum or something like that. I don’t think filtering out whispers is the right way to go, but a filter might be part of the solution – most of the messages are from the same site using the same message, so being able to block any message that has a strategically chosen string of characters from that message will probably stop them until the message gets changed. AFAIK, though, no such option has been implemented.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
Hi,
The forum is not the place for such issues to be discussed.
If you witness any of Gold Selling while playing, please report them using the in-game ticketing system so our Customer Support team can properly investigate the issue.
Thank you for your understanding.
