Is there a time frame for the new expansion?
HoT took a few years to come out after gw2 hit the shelves. It’s highly unlikely that a new expansion is coming anytime within the next year or so. Look for quarterly updates and other enhancements to the game (if you call them that).. but another expansion? Highly unlikely.

The only elite specs that you get with HoT are the ones that came with it which we currently have access to. The ones that come with the next expansion can only be acquired by purchasing that expansion. The next expansion will of course include HoT for free.
Yes the elite specs are in HoT and won’t be taken away…. nerfed maybe.. but not taken away.. :P

You will get the HoT ones, but not any in future expacs.
The expac is being worked on behind the scenes unlike HoT. The stated intention was less than the 3 years of the previous wait, so I think next year is a reasonable guess, giving it 2 years since HoT and thus falling in like with their forecasts earlier this year. Summer tends to be rather poor for game releases and Spring feels too soon, so I’d take a fair punt at 3rd or 4th quarter 2017.
I’d be very surprised if it came out within the next 6 months, so I think it’s definitely not going to happen in the next month or two.
They haven’t even announced it, beyond saying they are working on one (which they told us straight after HoT was released). We don’t know what it’s called, where in the world it’s set, who the main villain/s are, what the new elite specs are. I’d expect at least some of that to come out before it’s released.

There is a HoT sale happening right now and im very interested in buying it mainly for the elite spec however i heard there is a new expansion coming with brand new elite spec (you got to buy the new xpac to get the new elite spec).
So my question is there a time frame, if there isn’t an exact date, when the new expansion is coming? Because i don’t want to buy HoT then after a month or two the new expansion comes out, would be a waste on my part.
Well, we won’t get the new expansion until after LWS3 is over, and we were told to expect a new chapter of LWS3 released every 2-3 months. Assuming that LWS3 has a similar number of episodes as LWS2 does (8), and considering we are getting the third on the 21st, we can expect at least 5 more episodes worth of time before we get the next expansion.
My guess is that absolute earliest we will get it is a year from now. We will in all likelihood get it later than that, but I very highly doubt we will get it before then.
