Q:

Reading around on the forums I have found quite a few people bashing on celestial stats. Considering it gives you a boost to practically everything I though it was really good. I’ve been considering making a set of ascended celestial armor for my guard, but after seeing so many posts about not liking it, I’m not sure about it anymore. My question: Is there a use for celestial armor?

Celestial is very good for some guardian engineer and elementalist builds. Research YouTube to find builds that shine using it and decide if the playstyle if appealing to you before you choose to craft it. Even exotic celestial is time gated and isn’t “optimal” for dungeons, but who cares about berzserker only groups anyways?

Celestial is very viable for non DPS builds retaining okay dmg and giving good sustain, healing and condition dmg in return.

The stat combinations is only viable if you actually use 6 or more stats. if you cannot provide healing and regen you lose one, if you cannot use conditions (due to your build or weapon choices yu lose another…

If you use 5 or less a 3 stat armor will be more rewarding.

celestial will be usefull in WvW, PvE, and open dungeons, but have no use in Speedruns…. It seesm celestial is the best in PvP atm and thus attracts attention, but I really do not know.

I have a full set on my ele, It has full zerk, but also a full celestial set, both sets include a full armor, an asc staff, and asc trinkets. celestial has divinity runes, zerk is meta. I swap out what I need.

celestial armor and weapons are timegated. And te hidden fact they supply quite a lot of stat points compared to 3 stat armors shouldn’t be hidden.

It is No MAX STAT armor, not by a long shot, you’ll lose 600+ points on food and sharps buffed compared to a max power/zerk build, lose out on crit chance and crit dmg (compared to zerk), but I do get 6000 Hp in return and 600 toughness, and 600 healing and 600 condition dmg…

On Eles you can use might stacking to retain dps.(and fury if traited)…
It works and gives you an all round build. But other then engi, guard and ele there is no real reason to take clestial IMHO.

Celestial is bad in PvE. Having a boost to everything means that you’re only adequate in every aspect. Its much better to have a more specialized stat combination. In PvE power boosts coming from berserker or assassin stats are the best, however you can also go in different routes if you choose.

Celestial stats in PvP and WvW however are extremely good since there you have many more things to consider. Maximizing damage in PvP on engineer and Elementalist you use both conditions and raw damage. Celestial allows you to do both fairly well and also gives really could sustain.

IMO, dont make an ascended set of celestial armor for your guardian, instead make a berserker’s set. Celestial, I think, is not the best for Guardians in WvW so it wont help much there, and in PvE berserker is far superior.

However if you do find a fun build that uses celestial by all means go for it, but be wary with ascended armor since the stats are not much better than exotic and if you ever decide to change stats it will have been a waste.

It depends what youre going to be doing. If youre going to be in serious dungeons runs or high level fractals (30+ is where you start to need it) make ascended zerk gear for sure

If youre going to be doing only serious wvw on top tier servers, I think soldiers is better, but not positive, the guardian forums might have more builds about what to run for that

If youre more casual and will be doing wvw/eotm, open world pve, and occasional dungeons celestial is great. Yea your damage is a little lower but who cares if some 13 year old blows an aneurism because a boss takes 32 seconds to kill instead of 30, plus you wont ever have to bother with multiple gear sets

I run cele armor w/traveler runes (awesome runes if youre lazy so you never have to bother with swiftness again, and gives + to all stats), along with zerker jewelery (not great to run 100% cele since you have low power, but its doable if you really want). Only content I dont use it for is fractals, but otherwise its been fine

prefer divinity on my ele over traveler, traveler has way less stat points, 8,12 and 16 for 36 per stat total of 252 total , divinity has 8.10,12,14,16,18 for 78 for a total of 546 so you are robbing yourself from 40 points per stat (I can understand it from guardian point of view, but for elementalist it is unwise). Also If you have the birthday booster, it’s nice or else there is always dragon’s revelry starcake (45 to all stats and +20% MF).

Celestial is used in PvP. I don’t think it has any uses for Pve though.

Celestial is great in PvE.
Not everybody is a dodging god and eventually you will miss that perfect rotation.

While others in their oh so optimal Zerker setup are suddenly sitting on their kittenhineys waving hands in the air, my Guardian is still running around happily applying the suboptimal DPS that looks pretty optimal to me. :p

It´s true though.
If you´re not using the stats then they´re of course no good to you.
Thankfully conditions are on the verge of getting overhauled, so that´s another thing to keep in mind.

The problem is that most players think every armor or weap peice has to have the same stats. I personally like having celestial on certain peices like Helm, Chest, Legs which have the highest stat totals. On the other pieces I use whatever else I need for the build.

Mix n Match way to go unless ur just a zerker clone

Depends on what your goal is but I’m a semi-casual in that I play a lot, but I frequently take breaks from the game.

I’m working towards my first ascended armor which is going to be celestial for my Necro since I already have a build I enjoy and it’s a hybrid (70% Power 30% Cond) with a lot of healing so I’m using pretty much all stats. Optimal for PvE Dungeons? Hell no, but I find it extremely fun and I’m playing a bit of everything (PvE, PvP, WvW) and I do not want to make additional ascended sets for this character.

Celestial can be decent for certain builds in fractals and even dungeons.

Especially Guards can use it very well imo.
