Is there a way to get a free world transfer ?
The only current way to transfer for free is to delete all your characters on your account, then you are able to transfer for free.
Since they instituted a fee to change servers they have only had one time they offered free transfers and that was to a medium population worlds (I think.)
So I wouldn’t count on it. But who knows what they will do.
Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.
Delete all of your characters and then it will be free. Not worth it except to those that just started.
The only way, currently, to transfer servers free is to delete all your characters. If another free transfer period should come about, it would most likely only be to low or medium populations worlds.
Although, exchanging gold for gems is, in essence, a way to transfer free. =)
I never world transferred but I believe it uses gems no? so you could buy the gems necessary with in game currency right? it will cost like 30g but it will be kinda free

but i JUST got a free transfer from my server DRAKKAR LAKE to the server all my guildies play, “FIRE LAKE”

Odd, no such servers. Or maybe some kind of joke.
Drakkar Lake is an EU server. I’m not sure about Fire Lake, could be Ring of Fire or maybe a direct translation of the German name for Abaddon’s Mouth (both that and Drakkar Lake are German language servers and I’m not sure if they have the same names in all languages).
Anyway as far as I know there are only 2 ways you can get a free transfer:
1) Create a free account (which doesn’t allow you to choose a world) and then upgrade to HoT – you’ll get 1 free transfer so you can choose your world.
2) Delete all your characters. You’ll keep anything in your bank, anything bound to your account like achievements and skins but lose all your progress. Not really a good choice for anyone except new players.
Other options are to buy the gems with gold, or if you’re transferring to join a guild maybe ask if they can help pay the fee.
(Also everyone should be aware unless you’re switching regions – EU or NA – your server only matters for WvW. You don’t need to be on the same server as someone to play PvE or PvP with them.)

Oh! Lol. Silly me. Well, at least I knew there was no Fire Lake. Ha ha. (I should peruse the EU list more often.)
Maybe the OP is looking at the WvW lists where some servers are joined together for a match-up time period?
