I bought the game yesterday after asking a bunch of people if I should get the game that day or wait for a sale and all of them, and I mean all of them said that there’d most likely be no sale for spring break and the sale would be in a couple months when that expansion comes out. So I bought the game and the very next day it’s announched that the game is going on sale. I’m so upset with myself right now lol I was telling my self “hey just wait a couple more days until school’s out then by the game” but noooo I bought the game for 40 bucks when I could have bought it for 15 ugh I’m really hating myself right now I even joked around with those people that I’d punch myself if something like this happened and it actually happened
Is there any chance I can get some money back if I message them somewhere?

Not likely. You can try contacting support but I seriously doubt they will help you out based on an upcoming sale.

contact support, i think they actually give a grace period on sales within a certain time frame if you ask them about it

If you got the game less than 24 hours ago, you can try asking for a full refund by claiming you hate the game, and buying it again once the sale begins.
nah I just checked while filling out the support ticket and I bought it 2 days ago not yesterday like I thought I did. I don’t think I did much 2 days ago though I just downloaded it and created my character, it was right before midnight too. yesterday is when I actually started playing.
oh well all I can do now at this point is wait. im a stingy stingy man

That is bad advice. Getting a refund might block the method of payment used from purchasing the game again. Not to mention the suggestion could be considered fraudulent.

Your friends gave you really bad advice, there’s constantly sales going on every couple of months. Usually they’re just 50%, but 75%’s are becoming more popular with ANet promoting the expansion.
Open up a ticket to see if Customer Service will refund some of your purchase.
I think you can ask for a refund, then you buy another gw2 copy when the sale starts. But you will probably have to buy the other account using another email, but i’m not sure on that.

Buying something up to 24 hours before it goes on sale sometimes gets the better price, but it seems to be case by case. Just be polite and see what happens.
I would be surprised if they were jerks about it. I’ve heard dozens of stories of this happening at any retail store and they always take care of people. this happened to me when I bought my last phone. No issues here.

If one asks politely the worst that can happen is that they cannot help. Anything more is plus.
They probably won’t be able to refund the difference, however they will refund the entire account. Do note however that refunding an account gets that account permanently banned and you will need a new email for your new account. If you have anything of value, give it to someone else before requesting a refund.

I’m pretty sure, that all the previous statements on the issue were that they in fact don’t.
As some people already said, you can ask for a refund, and then buy the game again for a discount price, but (as it has been mentioned as well), there are negative consequences attached. For example, if you have a gw1 account and bound it to the current one already, you won’t be able to bind it to a new one.

Don’t know laws of your country, but here in Finland we have 14 days money back policy and even anet have to obey customers countrys laws. In here you don’t have to give reason to get refund if you do it in 14 days.
So in your case I would just place ticket to get full refund and buy new account.
Man if you get this upset over $40 you will hate Australia.

OP, if you do get a refund and then get a new account, do not attempt to attach the key for your new account to your old refunded account. The site will let you do so but since your old account will be deactivated, it will lock up your new account and you won’t be able to access it without contacting support, which can take several days.
Getting a refund will also cause them to refuse the method of payment you used so you will need to have a different credit/debit/paypal to buy the new account.
If you buy a new account before you get a refund on your old account and use the same card, the refund will cause both accounts to be deactivated (as well as that method of payment with ANet).
