Guild Wars 2

After a month break that included the whole lost shores update, I played the game to the present slowly gathering mats for my legendary, doing some sPvp experimenting with my own builds that I have been working on. Going into WvW everyday running around trying to cap things, going into jumping puzzles. Hell yesterday I finished off the rest of the jumping puzzles on my achievement list just because I can. The moral is, If it wasn’t because of you guys complaining on the forums I would have no idea ascension gear is such a big deal in WvW. I would not have noticed the drops, I did in fact notice and still hate the fact everyone is in LA doing fractals BUT I adjusted and just started to look and put together groups in LA and then move out to planned dungeon. I play this game more than casual but I spread my agenda out I do one thing one day, and some other thing the next. Anet is not ruining the game YOU are.

I feel so bad for new people coming to the game.. “I think ill hop on the forums and l2p while its downloading” and they are confronted with your crap. I enjoy the heck out of this game, and so do the people replying to said people making post questioning your bullkitten. To be honest I wish Anet had more time to remove said posts. I see a bunch of people listing the same problem over and over but instead of maybe thinking you are using the game wrong you instantly think its a bug and the game is broken, you don’t say anything in these posts that will benefit the community. This game is not even half a year old yet. My friends and I like to call this time, the infancy of a MMO. People go all out with these bugs like they wasted 2 years playing with them crying screaming like a little kid saying they are going to quit for attention? LOL~ I’m baffled to say the least.

As of right now everything that could possibly be wrong with the game has be said, seen by Anet and flamed upon by you. For everyone else that agrees with me. Don’t read the post these guys are making. Don’t waste your time replying. If you want to see a “right now” change in the game all of us need to change our attitude, I see way to many people jumping to the punch with a quick smart kitten line to a simple question that some poor dude felt like engaging the general public instead of tabbing out and to google it. That, right there, is why chat is dead and why all you will only see people spamming for groups. (yes yes, typing is so very hard during combat. I get it..)

People, end game is your choice now. I hate to say it but the people that find themself with nothing to do, that does not give you the right to engage yourself in forum pvps. You are in fact playing the game wrong. Its so true you guys over look it. This game is not WoW, it is not Rift.. ect. Guess what its Guild Wars 2. I have been there I came from a Korean grind feast MMO. With the headstart I was in full exotic within the first week of the release. I found myself with nothing to do so I stopped. I’ll save you the time I took to realize this. Play it like Gw2 and nothing else. Don’t rush things. Take your time. Want that armor set from ____? well there you go you got something to do this week. Don’t over run the damn thing. Why do you think we only get 60 per 1 run of the day.

[I have played 400 hours of this game and I payed 80$ for it. No money wasted for me, I could quit right now and feel i got my moneys worth plus more. Heck I feel bad for not buying gems]

Last but not least, and I’ll say it again because I know some people will have missed it in my post. And apparently forgot when they picked up the game. Buy-to-play. Its this wonderful new thing were if you have kitten to do in real life, or you are bored with the game. You can just stop. You are NOT wasting money. When the game is right you can come back and play it. Please just let the people who enjoy the game enjoy the game.

I could go on, But I feel it would be a waste of time as most of you reading this are just picking out sentences to throw back at me and say I am wrong. Before you all get defensive, I know of everything that everyone is kitten off about. I’m no longer in the dark. I am saying all of this after 2 weeks of watching the forums. I still play the game fine and everything you guys are “quitting” over is pathetic.

I feel bad for new players coming here for info too- it’s like you are all shiny and happy- pop in to say hi and unleash a kitten storm.
Thankfully in-game it is another story and I see new players being welcomed with open arms every day. The atmosphere is the game is very different from these forums.

Love this game, I’ve been playing since day one. And have no lvl 80. Not even close.

As I was reading this post I was agreeing with a lot and seeing a lot of valid points, and I still agree with a lot of it. But then as I read further I have to take issue with a few things.

I agree a lot of people complain for the sake of complaining, but there are also a lot of people who have valid complaints. I myself have complained about the introduction of the Ascended gear. And I feel I have a right to voice my displeasure and give my feedback, after all I have invested time and money into the game, and time and money invested in its predecessor. And I have supported Anet with a regular amount of my real money in the form of purchasing gems, like I did for nearly 7 years spending in the GW1 store. And I offer feedback, whether positive or negative because I care about the GW franchise and its community.

I suspect a lot of other people who have made complaints in the forum have also invested a lot of time and money, and also care about the game and which way forward its going.

So to brand every person who is complaining as pathetic is no better than someone coming onto the forum to complain for complaining sake.

You even pointed out that you took a month break and you never bought any gems. Yet you feel you are entitled to come onto a forum and take issue with people who have invested more time and money than you, and call your fellow community members pathetic. Is this something new players joining the community would like to see also?

I care about this game, I care about the community. I have invested time and money in the game. So if i feel like I have some feedback to give, good or bad, I am just as entitled to give it, just like you feel you are entitled to brand people who offer feedback pathetic.

At the end of the day, if everyone was coming onto the forum saying the game is perfect, then Anet will not be able to take anything from that.

I also feel bad about what new players make of the complaining, but I also feel bad what new players make of posts like this attacking other community members.

But other than the issue I have with your attitude to people submitting feedback OP, a well written post, and agree with most of it.

I would like to see the threads on “Where is everyone” merged as was done with botting and ascended gear. New versions seem to be posted daily. That way we could answer the questions once.

And you are doing all those Meta Events in near empty maps alone i guess?

Sorry to disappoint you, but welcome to every MMO forum ever. I think most people will expect to see that sort of whining of the forums of every single game in existence and thus won’t be very turned off by it. If they’re surprised by it, then they’re naive, quite frankly.

So you have a complaint with those who have a complaint? And, you are complaining about them complaining, is that correct?

One thing I notice with those who have a complaint about the game as opposed to a complaint about the players, is that they usually have specific complaints about specific game elements. And, I think it’s more helpful to engage with actual issues being raised than to address people in an ad hominem manner. Engage the issues, not the people.

Agree with Snix

Gamers can indeed complain sometimes about the most minor and trivial things, but there are a lot of valid complaints and concerns relating to the current status of the game and the directions being taken. Some of it might be a little over the top with the doomsaying rhetoric, but behind the melodrama is a real concern that warrants some merit unless it can be proven completely false. Some people are fine adapting or like the game as-is…. and we certainly need those viewpoints as well so that they help temper the severity of measures taken (if any measures are in fact taken).

Frankly, I find your generalization of the community’s dissenters grossly obtuse. There are good critiques, there are those who dissent about the game but encourage new players to at least try GW2 and form there own opinions, and yes there are a lot of repeat threads…. because repetition usually means it’ll stick and I don’t know maybe get addressed (whether through a fix or response that’s a little more insightful than silence or “we’re working on it”).

Sorry there are those that have an issue with the game, that can’t just submit in abject surrender and be content…. but their viewpoints aren’t somehow invalid because the way they play is somehow incorrect and can’t “fall in line with the way the game is supposed to be play” (whatever that means).

Given what Anet has done in the past, and the groundwork they have now, I think they can raise the bar and make this game a lot better than it currently exists without really needing to add content… but I don’t think they’ll divine that path on their own.
