Q:

I’m wondering if I would be allowed to make a bind that would assist me using the trading post. This key bind is a macro that clicks 52 times over the course of 0.021 milliseconds to make buying large amounts of items easier (My goal is to save time and possibly a mouse later down the road). All I would like to know is if the macro for left clicking a mouse is legal or not in this game.

Edit:
To specify how I would make this macro, it would be with my Razer Naga Mouse.

A:

Btw, from the rules of conduct-
“You may not use any third-party program (such as a “bot”) in order to automate gameplay functions, including playing, chatting, interacting, or gathering gold or items within Guild Wars 2."

Probably. You get errors anyway if you sell/buy too many items in a short amount of time.

I wouldn’t get any errors for buying. Selling gets an error when you sell six of any item too fast. Seems that there’s a timer for selling, so I’d manually click for selling.

Ah I see. I know it happens for selling so I just assumed for buying as well. Really not sure macro is bannable. Hope someone else chimes in.

Yep, bannable. You’re using something that lets you do something ‘faster’ and ‘better’ without doing it yourself.

For the Trading Post? What is wrong with entering 52 then clicking Buy?

I’d prefer to see some sort of citation for this or get a direct response from an moderator until I know for sure that I cannot use it.

Clicking in the trading post really doesn’t sound like a reason to ban to me.

It’s not really giving him an in game advantage. It’s only better because he doesn’t have to strain his fingers clicking so much :p

seems more like a way to easily control the market of the TP otherwise dont know why you’d want to buy in such large bulks in such a little amount of time.

Anet has repeatedly mentioned that any 3rd party programs that interact with the game in any way is a bannable offense. No matter how meaningless or benign the usage may be.
My gaming mouse, for example, does not work at all with gw2. I am surprised you got yours to work.

You are using a script to do something for you instead of having you do it yourself. How is that different to having a script run to farm mats? Botting is botting

Yeah that makes sense. I know in some other online games developers have stated they cannot differentiate between certain third party programs. They all look the same to them so they just ban all of them. Similar to how that injection thing that makes your colors look better. That’s not game-play changing at all yet it is still a bannable offense.

To be honest, the reason why I thought of doing this in the first place was because I am already single clicking 300-1,000 to place orders of 250 stack items. I usually spend about 30-45 minutes of just changing the prices, changing the amount I want from 1 to 250 and pressing that buy button.
My reasons to do it are:
To save time from clicking for 600 stacks of an item.
Save my mouse later down the road.
would save at least 30 minutes of clicking.

I’m sure it’s banable. Whether it is something they will actually enforce I don’t know.

I believe that this answers that question then. Thanks for doing that research for me.
