Hello everyone!
Yesterday my guild and I decided to troll around and discover the place known as ‘Unfinished Jumping Puzzles’ in Caledon Forest. Except large complex of tunnels, you can find there some precious rooms like “X-men” one.
Okay, but let’s go back to the thing that interested me the most. In one room there’s a plant inside and it seems like it’s root are melted by the lava. Additionaly there are lots of thorns around like impaling the whole room and the plant as well. I would not even care about it, but this little plant somehow reminds me of the Pale Tree and it’s leaves that are everywhere in The Grove. Is it possible, that it’s the one of the saplings? These jumping puzzles are below the area conquered by the Nightmare Court, so did they steal one of seeds? Thorns are everywhere so is there Mordremoth corruption? We don’t even know if it’s growing strong or more like slowly vanishing…
Well, these are my theories that may be more or less true. I also need to say that people told me that these puzzles are there since the game start, so the HoT content is not possible, but geez. It’s defenitely “Little Pale Tree” for me. What do you think?

There are others. This character from the Sylvari Personal Story for instance.

Plus the history of the Pale Tree indicated it was one of many seeds.

Yeah I know these stories but we never have seen the other tree. So maybe this one is the second? So Malyck’s tree will be third? But Malyck was called the Harbinger, and you could buy “Harbinger of Mordremoth” outfit in the gem store, so I bet he’ll be one of the bad guys…. <sighs>. It is so complicated!

I had no idea about that area, it looks like you need some special skills to get there though, I wonder if it can be done with a thief…

Doesn’t overly scream Pale Tree to me, especially considering its proximity to the current one – I’d have expected the Pale to Tree to know. It could have been a stolen seed, but seems to well grown to have been in the time the Nightmare Court have been around for.

Corrupted normal tree perhaps.

… But Malyck was called the Harbinger, and you could buy “Harbinger of Mordremoth” outfit in the gem store, so I bet he’ll be one of the bad guys…. <sighs>. It is so complicated!

First, it was the Nightmare Court that called Malyck “the harbinger” because if another Pale Tree was known to exist, without the teachings of Ventari, then that would be proof to the Nightmare Court that sylvari in general didn’t need to pay attention to Ventari’s teachings.

A harbinger, by definition, is a type of foreshadowing. I don’t think the armor had anything to do with Malyck, since the Nightmare Court nick-named him in hopes of seeing great change to sylvari people. Rather, the armor foreshadows confrontation with Mordremoth.

Now, speculation… It was intimated that Ventari’s teachings and the Pale Tree protected her children from Mordremoth’s influence. Some believe the Nightmare Court themselves will not immediately succomb to Mordremoth because of their intense free will. Malyck seemed like a good guy, but what about his siblings? After all, the Pale Tree had some bad seeds. I hope we see Malyck’s Tree in the future, or at least another Tree. Whether other Trees and their people become Mordy’s or keep themselves free remains to be seen. Either way, I think it would be interesting.

I think the Season 2 storyline and the info we’ve got on Heart of Thorns pretty much confirms the existence of other trees. We don’t know if that is one of them however.

We also don’t know how similar they will be to the Pale Tree and how similar their ‘children’ will be to the sylvari. Given their origins, and the fact that 1 tree can produce both humanoid sylvari and fern hounds it could be that the other trees produce things we wouldn’t immediately recognise as being like the sylvari.

Although (season 2 plot spoiler ahead) it's quite likely at least some of the mordrem we've seen so far are produced by other trees. My guess would be that just as the Pale Tree copied humans when creating the sylvari they copied animals and plants found in the Maguuma.
