Q:

I had an intention to get the thirst slayer achievement which is to consume 100,000 drinks. Now, obviously no one wants to sit here spamming (no sorry, breaking) your mouse so I used Aivia Ghost to do it for me. It’s just a macro program for my keyboard. I set it to spam mouse 1 so that I don’t have to sit here doing it and get carpal tunnel.

I’m concerned however, because I already did it for 4.5k drinks before realizing Anet might consider this botting. So I stopped, and here I am asking the fellow community (and hopefully an Anet employee).

Is using a macro program that only tells my computer to click mouse 1 bannable? Or am I expected to complete this achievement with health care bills?

Thanks!

A:

If it is automated, it is against the rules.

If it performs more than one action per click, it is against the rules.

For drinks, there’s the consume all option to do it one stack at a time. Another option is to get autohotkey and bind the mouse click to your mouse wheel.

Technically it is against the rules, but they generally don’t care as long as its for minor stuff like this, and that you be quiet about it

Oh I didn’t know there was a consume all for drinks, I thought it was only for magic find. This helps, and is quicker tbh. Thank you:)

I think most macros that would bannable are when they are assigned to Skill useage.

Macros are tolerated if you use them for things that don’t give you any advantages.

For example, you can use macro for your harp doing nice songs, or for open bags in your inventory. It doesn’t hurt anyone.

Moreover, some consumables have “consume all” function if you right click on it. You should try.

Use “consume all” by right clicking the stack and you’ll see it at the bottom.
