ok so i don’t know where to put this topic since it rarely happens to some of us. so a friend of mine who’s been playing GW2 since the release has logged back in after 2 months RL work. so we chatted a lil to catch up on what we have been doing in game and IRL. me i told him i was going to finish my frostfang(i was about 80% done) so he told me what i needed, so i said about 100g more for icy runestones, so he replied to me here take my 100g as a christmas present and he also told me he is going to quit because he is going to focus more on his career. so i gladly took his offer. now my question is…. is this bannable? receiving gold from a friend? i know its a bit farfetched but i just want some clarification thats all. since i saw some in the forums getting banned for getting gold on the mail. so if a dev can enlighten me on my query it would be much appreciated. thank you and good day to us all.

It’s not bannable, but you might get banned. That’s because a lot of gold sellers will transfer money in game and when they appeal the band, the most common response is “I was giving money to a friend”

I’m sure they have an automatic system in place that looks at how much gold is being transferred through game mail and they start to watch those accounts. So again, to directly answer your question, it’s not bannable but you might get banned.

RIP in peace Robert

No, it’s not against the rules to get money from a friend as a gift.

What people mean by “getting gold through the mail” is buying it with real world cash from unauthorized sellers or websites. That’s against the rules, but sending gold as a present without getting monetary payment for it is not.

I think if you only do it once, or once in a while you’ll be ok. The only people I’ve heard of getting banned were “giving” gold to lots of their “friends” either all at once or repeatedly over a period of time.

For the most part I’ve only seen people complaining about getting banned after sending gold to multiple people. I have yet see a post about someone getting banned after receiving gold.

As stated we think they have a automated system that autobans players who send large amounts of gold very often per day.
