My point is basically this: GW2 seems to be granting more and more rewards for less effort.

Clearly the new login reward system is a big step in that direction. (Not counting the 5ish Laurels a month, but then again, logging in is not comparable to doing dailies every day and completing monthlies.)

The new daily achievement system, I actually like: more variation, less AP grinding. What I don’t like about it, is that a lot of achievements seem to have gotten a lot easier. WvW Land Claimer went from 5 to 1 captures. That’s a bit of a drastic change. I don’t think 5 was to hard, nor did I have the feeling I was grinding when I was completing it.

This trend has been going on for a while now. The last WvW Season achievement category, for instance, was simply laughable. Completing 4 (5?) WvW events a week is nothing compared to the seasons that preceded it. Even compared to the hardcore dailies we had back then

Enough examples. Bottom line is: with this new daily/login system, I think we have reached a new level. So maybe it’s time to put a stop to that. I realize it’s a delicate balance, but games need to be challenging in order to be fun. Four events a week, one simple capture or simply logging in doesn’t really sound like a challenge to me, not even for beginners.

Until you look at how hard the new living story achievements are, which are the hardest of the entire lot so far.

I get it. Haha
Funny joke.
You can’t seriously think they’re hard.

It’s content that doesn’t require spamming “1”, while following some random dude with a blue tag. Of course it’s hard.

It’s being dumbed down a bit, but I don’t think they’ll push it too far.

If it’s any consolation, this game was hard as hell after coming from 3 years of wow.

There’s content that is challenging for varying skill levels, with varying rewards. For the most part these have been stale and boring though, and players have been complaining about lacklustre loot and rewards for as long as I can remember. I think we deserve to get some some good stuff for it’s own sake.

There are plenty of people who think they are. But you really need to read like words. I didn’t say they were hard. I said they were the hardest so far. See, that’s a relative thing. For a lot of people they certainly are hard. Avoiding all the attacks of the centaur boss is hard for a lot of people. It requires a level of skill higher than most other achievements. That’s what makes it harder.

That’s the definition of hard to gw2 players, cant spam all day 1 key, must be hard then.

1st April joke, when gw2 receives a “balance” update.

My experience this year. Theres a trend of on the one hand dumbing down (npe beginners areas, login rewards etc, promoting spoonfed), and at the other hand promoting restrictive gameplay (vertical forced grindy): Traits system, new achievement dailies, gate locked personal story used to be rewarded for just playing the game with the content i like (thats good achievements). Now it rewards for doing things forced from a very narrow pool (Myself am a PVE player only, before i just played the PVE content i wanted for decent hours and got the reward, now your rewarded with ap (which i want for the skins) for forcing things. Horizontal progression is steadily swapped for vertical, gated restrictive non progession (which vertical progession is, its no progession, its a grind).
I’m at the point having no desire to play anymore, it doesn’t feel right anymore (and thats of course because of many gameplay changes rolled out over the year, this is just a little part of it). The Guildwars spirit is gone for me (after playing guildwars 1,2 on and of from 2006).
