Hi,
I left the game shortly after guild missions came out. My available playtime dwindled and I did not feel like scheduling my life around a game anymore(ahem raids?). Combined with the fact that nothing is being done about skyrocketing precursor prices(I thought missions would reduce their cost since they can be obtained through missions as well), I left the game. One too many “lies”, one too many grey areas where arenanet had the luxary of walking the fine line and ultimately swaying whichever way the wind was blowing.

I still think that GW2 has/had amazing potential. The game world is absolutely awesome. The combat is great. I love most of the classes. Dungeons are pretty good. WvW was fun here and there. I really did enjoy leveling in this game, and grinding for my legendary(up until the point where it was futile..never going to acquire that precursor).

So… Since early march, has anything changed in game? Im not talking about the super mario crap right now. Fundamentally? Has arenanet made any posts or announcements that might be worth looking into again? Id love to pick up the game again, but not if it is the same as when I left it.

Honest thoughts please. Im not looking for flame posts or trolls.

Thanks!

Nope.
If you left based on what you wrote in your post it is not worth coming back.

I really dislike posts like this because it feels like you’re just trying to start an argument. You want the gw2 community to sell you the game when in reality, no one can tell you what you think will be worth your time. OR you’re looking for excuses to bash the game cause you’re bored.

There have been numerous updates, that may or may not appease you. You can go to the news and announcements forums and read the patch notes, or you can boot it up and try it.
It will literally cost you nothing.

Hmm.. Disappointing.

Hmm.. Disappointing.Well, are guild missions all they are cracked up to be? Or is it more tank and spank type of fights? Which leads me to another question. Anet said they were going to revise a lot of the dungeon bosses. Did this ever happen? I know they did a few bosses in AC and the one fight in CoF. Did they change any other dungeons?

WvW got an upgrade so you might want to check that out.

Since it costs you absolutely nothing to come back and try, then i’d say yes it is worth it.

Nothing has changed about the pre-cursors, and probably never will. Small guilds got a mission to help them get the influence needed for the other missions, so if that was an issue then it has been solved. Many guilds run public missions throughout the week, where you can temporarily join their guild to run the missions and get the guild comms. If you can’t run them with your guild then that is a good alternative for more casual players, just keep an eye out in LA for guilds announcing it.

1) Dungeon Revisions: Nothing has happened yet. No idea of the actual status of their internal time tables.

2) Guild Bounties: Some are tank and spank, but each boss has its own quirks. I’ve seen the robot base on Timberline Falls wipe multiple guild zergs because they didn’t understand the mob’s tactics and didn’t help each other when downed. Yes, there fights can be interesting. However they really do feel like open world raids, for better or worse.

We are Test Group F. (Don’t ask about what happened to the previous Test Groups.)

My guild finds the missions to be a lot of fun. Guild bounty has a lot of tank and spank type bosses, but they recently added more and changed some to require more mechanics and skill.

Guild rush is a blast, it is hard to explain, you have to complete an obstacle course as a transformed animal while other players guard you. I’d check out some videos.

Guild Challenge is challenging and fun if you have <50 players. Above 50 players the event doesn’t scale as well and it becomes easier. Various objectives and mechanics there, i’d check out the guide on dulfy.net if you want to see what each one involves.

Guild puzzle isn’t unlockable yet so it will be another 2-3 weeks before we really know what that one is like.

I get the impression the O kitten o fixated on the precusor and the legendary weapon that even if he comes back, he won’t be satisifed if it’s not a lot cheaper..and it’s not.

I also get the impression that the couple of times a week his guild does guild missions probably won’t keep in satisfied with the game for any length of time.

People play games for different reasons. I’m guessing the reasons the OP plays games will probably make him incompatible with this game.

Personally I’d try it anyway, but reading what the OP has to say, I’m not thinking it’s worth it for him.

OK, I’m going to admit to skimming the original post… aw hell, let me go read it fully first… brb…

OK, back… still not fully sure what I read. But that’s me. Anyhow, guild missions really aren’t comparable to raids or all-time-consuming or anything like that. At least for us we schedule a few time-slots then people that can join in and we get them done. If people miss we try and do it again later so everyone has a chance. Completely different from the raid-job of which you speak and which I have too many years of familiarity with from games past.

So… what’s changed since March… well, probably the biggest is the removal of culling in WvW. You can see everyone. It’s insane at times seeing some hot zerg on zerg action! (No, not the Starcraft porn type. Get your minds out of the gutter!) If you even remotely enjoyed WvW that alone makes it worth a “come back and see”. The April content update should be along soon with I believe the culmination of the Flame and Frost stuff… I think it’s the culmination, unless it isn’t… we’ll see.

Regardless, my inner-fanboy will always say it’s worth coming back. That’s just who I am.

Hmh. Well, I have never been involved in any kind of a guild mission. I was a bit sad when I leaqrned they were only for big guilds, but I still play. There is the rest of the game there for me.

Log in. It’s not like the game requires a monthly fee.

Log in and look around, see if there’s anything you want to do.

If you have paid for the game already, you lose nothing in coming back and seeing if things have improved in your view.
