while I was surfing reddit I’ve found this tool

and now I’m wandering if is aganist TOS and then bannable or not. Techinacally it doesn’t read memory nor inject anything in the game so it shouldn’t qualify for a violation of the tos, in fact this tool operates taking screenshots of the game and specifically of the combat log area, then the software decipheres the font of the log to extract the numerical values of the inflicted damage. I think it’s kinda a grey area so I would like to have some insight (maybe a red post?)

If that damage meter was against the rules, so is recording your gameplay. Interpreting screenshots is not a violation and if you were paranoid, nothing’s stopping you from doing the same to a recorded video. The other meters that actually read the client’s memory are however against the rules, simply for reading the memory. Although technically against the rules however, simply reading the memory won’t get you banned either. In fact, everyone is already violating that rule.

It’s against their policy to vet 3rd party programs.

You can think it’s sad but when you need to refine your gameplay or test a new build a tool like a dps meter it’s crucial expecially if you need to change youre style of fighting. A simple exemple, a comparison between two zerk build can be easy just looking at the log but if you want to swap from zerk to conditions a meter is needed to keep track of all the damage dealt otherwhise it isn’t so easy do find wich build is the best

I don’t think using the name TheCheater is going to make you more sympathetic if you are caught. Just saying. lol

Yeah I know but I can assure you that I cheat only on single player games, and thats my nickname by a looong time so i keep using it

You do not have any need to know the exact damage numbers. Are you having the right amount of fun per second spent murdering poor, hapless mobs?

What does that even mean? Fun is had when your build is optimized and you know you are doing everything you can to help your team. I don’t understand people who think there is only one type of fun and that people who like to maximize dps don’t have it.

Typically(not all) those who try to maximize dps above all else are kitten kitties.

I still can’t figure out what’s bad in optimizing dps, with the incoming raids and the new fractal sistem it’s becoming even more important

If you have to ask if its against ToS then the answer is yes .

Anyway, I wouldn’t think it’s illicit. It doesn’t give any real-time advantage, manipulate a market, or automate things that shouldn’t be automated (one button, one action rule).

I will say that I’d be highly skeptical of your results. GW2 is far more complex than a simple ticker-tape DPS meter is going to keep up with. But good luck with it.
