There really, really needs to be more stat combinations on ascended gear. I don’t see why ascended gear’s stat combinations need to be more limited than exotic gear’s stat combinations.

I agree with this. At this point I find myself willing to forgo the Ascended amulet stat increases simply because the stat combinations aren’t the ones that I want, and I feel it will ultimately hurt my build.

I still can’t fathom why they destroyed the excellent ability to customize gear that existed prior to the ascended tier. A system that let you acquire a base item with stats that appealed to you, and then add an upgrade that could be the same or different set of stats, as you felt was best. It doesn’t make any sense that they chose to actually decrease the ability to customize gear.

There is no reason to get ascended gear except for the agony resistance. Using any type of defensive build in a fractal is detrimental since agony scales to your health, rather than a flat value.

That is why a lot of the stats are offensive, because it simply does not make sense for anyone to run a tank centered stat build in a fractal. The only way to survive the higher levels in fractals is to simply NOT get hit.

For goring Fracs and the Frac-Ascended gear, ok, maybe u’re right. But now u can get ascended gear for Lorels without Agony-Bonus, so why is there a Limitation either…very uncool^^

Fair enough but how does your statement have any context with ascended amulets as they are obtained through daily and monthly achievements (laurels) rather than doing runs in fractals. Also the ascended amulets do not come with an innate agony resistance so I don’t know what you are getting at here.
Secondly, if ascended items were created for sole use in fractals then they should be banned from use in competitive areas of the game such as WvW and PvP.
Lastly the existence of soldier’s nomenclature (power,tough,vit) ascended items contests your point about tank centered stat builds in fractals. Bowyers Delight, Royal Signet of Doric, and Thackeray Family Crest along with other duplicate ascended items offers the soldier’s nomenclature stat set which allows for a tank set up.

Also the carrion and rampager nomenclature ascended sets don’t exist as well (power,vit,cond. dmg) and (precision, condition damage, and power) respectively. I wouldn’t classify either of these sets as ultra defensive tank sets, certainly not in comparison to soldier’s nomenclature ascended gear. Ascended gear gives an advantage no matter what way you look at it because it’s simply superior to exotic gear this is an unarguable fact. The reason why Anet choose to systemically exclude some sets is puzzling. I’m pretty sure they didn’t base it upon your asinine opinion that they want everyone to go glass cannon in fractals and not get hit; an explanation from Anet on the exclusions would be nice.

Make a new build how about? Is it that bad that your set in your ways so much that after 5 months or so you can only build a few set ways? Mix and mach think of other way to get your objective try something new in your life for once and stop mindlessly going off what ppl post.

Learn what you’re talking about before you post. Your post doesn’t bring anything to the table. Limiting ascended item sets does not harbor some fabled diversity or player growth it causes players to pigeonhole themselves into a few old and tired play-styles. How is having more options a bad thing, that allows for better mixing and matching as you say. Quit with the cliche response of learn to play and adapt this has nothing to do with learning how to play or being unimaginative; it has to do with why can someone stack a full set of ascended berserker gear or ascended soldier gear and someone else not have even one viable ascended item piece for their play-style.

We don’t want burst dominating the game.

Why release a new tier of gear that caters only to burst and bunker builds?

I’d like to be able to Ascend regular gear, at least then we can get distributions that work with balanced builds builds instead of sacrificing my playstyle (and my fun) just to be able to run higher level fractals.

Toughness and vitality are still useful for non-agony mechanics, and those are still very common in high-level fractals.

Besides, ascended gear provides more stats. That makes it important for more content than fractals — most importantly, world vs. world. There’s no reason some builds should benefit from higher stats, while others should not.

ArenaNet have stated ascended gear is supposed to be the next tier for everyone. The emphasis on fractals is something they actually want to move away from.

Hey, I don’t want to self-promote or anything at all, but I’ve made a topic which concerns everything with Ascended items. Feel free to state you opinion there as well. If we can make it big enough then maybe ANet will do something about lacking aspects of the game.
