I like to set fashion goals for my toons and save the list to work on getting them. The disappointment is that some things look amazing on my toons but when I look up on how to earn it, it turns out a few items are from gem store but not available. Like that “mask of the silent” … I WANT that one. Seriously. Why can’t EVERYTHING that was on gem store stay there forever and not disappear? It would be so much less frustrating. Argh.

Items are seasonable in life too (try buying a coat when its summer items up for sale). People should be used to it by now.

Gem Store items are not finite properties that can run out. Real Life arguments really should not apply. If someone wants something they will buy it… putting people through unnecessary annoyance is just that: needlessly annoying people

Unless there’s data that says they can make more money rotating stock in and out the gem shop. They are shooting for consistent cash flow from the shop.

Artificial scarcity, they are making the market act as if it is rare, even though it isn’t, because they make more money that way.

A real world example is the diamond market. Diamonds are in fact, the most common gem, being made solely from the world’s most abundant material, carbon.

So why are they worth so much? Because the diamond trade is strictly controlled to where only enough stones makes it in to the market that they appear rare, because they would make less money off them for common uses than they do as a luxury item.

I know, right? I totally feel your pain, OP! I came up with a new look for my Necro 6 weeks ago, I need the Aetherblade Light Armor to finish it. I even bought the Gems with real money. At this point I don’t even feel like playing without my new look so I’m playing an other MMO and I only log in to GW2 on Tuesday to check the Gem Store update, lol.

If I could finish my new look, it would motivate me to be more active, yes. I have no other goals in the game right now so I just don’t feel like playing until I get that skin. So what? Is it really a surprise in an MMO that is mostly about collecting skins?

I need the aetherblade heavy armor. But I will wait…

I found out that Mask of the Silent was in Gem store a month ago according to the sticky thread that posts what’s in gem store now. argh! lol jeez. Well, I guess I gotta keep an eye daily!

I can totally relate! I had a Sylvari that I grew to dislike her face and hair. I used the makeover kit and made her beautiful. I was so happy I didn’t have to delete her and will keep playing her and take screenshot of her. I love it.

Exactly! When I joined GW2 I restarted my main (Necro) many times because I wasn’t happy with the race! First I was Sylvari but I wasn’t happy with the face / hair options. Then I became a Norn but they felt boring after a while. Then I tried Asura but the clipping killed it for me. Then we finally got new Sylvari faces / hairstyles and I found something I liked so now I’m happy with my Sylvari Necro! I just reeeeeally want to finish that amazing mix-n-match I came up with, lol… -throws money at Anet-

Because the gemstore would be impossible to navigate if they dumped everything in there all the time.
