My boyfriend bought this game last year to play with me and he tried unsuccessfully for about 3 months to get onto JQ server because its constantly full and now his characters are sitting on a different server and he hasn’t touched the game since. I’ve been saving gold to get him a world transfer but hard to do that when my world is always full and i don’t feel like transfering to his world since its a european server. Most of my friends play on american servers and i don’t want to leave my guild or friends. When will Anet raise the server cap or is my Boyfriends account doomed to never be played again?

Are you both wanting to do wvw together, or just play pvp and pve together? If you want to play wvw, then yeah, he’ll have to transfer to JQ whenever it happens to not be full (tough to catch it at those times). If you want to play pvp or pve, then he could simply transfer to any US server and play with you that way.

He (or both of you) could delete existing characters and chose a NA server that is not full. No cost to transfer, and no wait.

Otherwise, waiting until ArenaNet possibly raises the population cap for all (some) servers at the next WvW Tournament or the release of HoT is the only option.

Good luck.

RoseofGilead only issue is you cant be guests from american servers on european servers they outlined that when they first announced the guesting aspect back before it was released and he wont do a different american server because he hates lvling alone and the timer on how long you can guest and the cooldown for when you can do it again is rather annoying. Otherwise yea he would transfer to a different american server from his european server. Yea i could delete my characters but i have almost five lvl 80 toons and losing them would suck because i put so much time into them .

You don’t have to guest. Simply being on his friendlist and/or guild will put you in the same map most likely. Being in the same party will put you in the same map. If it doesn’t you right click him to join his map. No guesting required. The only thing you can’t do together is wvw.

There’s really no reason to guest anymore. It’s a rather outdated feature with the mega server. Someone’s I use it if there’s a dungeon closed on my map. But 90% of the time that doesn’t work because I end up back on the same map even after dropping party and turning off guild to try and be placed in a different shard.

Your friend would not need to level alone, if choosing a non-Full NA server. Megaserver allows everyone on NA or everyone on EU to play together, with the exception of WvW.

No guesting necessary.

Good luck.

Yes, he would just have to transfer to an American server. Guesting wouldn’t even be needed for pve or pvp as long as you’re both on any US server.

Yep. The mega server takes into account your party, friendlist, guild and home server when choosing a shard map for you. But your friend list and guild take president over your home server as well as your party. I’d be surprised if you ever would end up on different shards when zoning into a map if he is on your friendlist. Unless of course it’s something like teq where maps fill up fast and people are always changing shards with the LFG tool.

It took me weeks to get onto Dragonbrand to play with a friend in WvW. The ONLY way I managed to get on was to wait until a patch went live, download it, and then IMMEDIATELY go for the transfer. It’s not perfect, and requires more dedication than it should. but there is at least some chance.
