January and February are actually our biggest updates to date. They’re even bigger than all the stuff we did in October, November and December"

Has this/Will this hold up to all the spiel they gave before the patches started rolled out?

So far, from what I’ve read, and seen, it seems that it’s not going to live up to all that hype (again). Considering they created a whole island for November (I know that the island is pretty much useless – but still a whole island nevertheless) it’s a lot to contest against.

We already know a living story is in place, and that more things are in the way….but I doubt that will all be unveiled for the end of Feb. I’d totally see this as completely reasonable if they said in the next 4-5 months – but they explicitly referred to Jan and Feb.

btw. It can be said fixes are questionable as “updates”…Personally, I wouldn’t class “fix-broken-in-game-features” as an update. The same reason why I wouldn’t class fixing a broken feature on my phone as an “upgrade” if it was always broken..but obviously…that’s personal opinion

Your thoughts?

If you had actually search the forum you would find the answer to your question. Anyways, some of the things for got moved to march and we don’t know much of what is in the February discussion and nor their implementation, so to answer you question: there is no answer because bigger than oct, nov and december mean different things to me, you and to them.

Based on your writing style you are trying to stir up the works, so no matter what answer one provide it wouldn’t be sufficient to you.

This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

They’ve adjusted the timeline on the launch of new content:

Hey guys,

Just to help provide some clarity on this, we’ll be releasing within the next couple of weeks a high level summary of our big plans for the first half of 2013 to help provide more transparency into our plans with the game going forward. This will include providing more details about our goals for the game, information about the stories and features that you’ll see in the Jan/Feb/March releases.

To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond. Also, there will be no new race, profession, or new region with these larger Feb/March releases. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided. In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.

More details and specifics to come in the next couple of weeks, but I hope that helps provide some more insight into what to expect at a very high level.

In January we got the Prelude to Flame and Frost, the Laurel system, Guesting, more ascended infusions and Amulets.
The 2nd chapter is coming this month along with the new PvP map, Guild Missions, rated PvP play, changes to daily achievements and preview in the Trading Post.

Pretty good so far, the next couple months will see even more to come.

Guesting was supposed to be in at launch, the laurel system and the stuff in it was basically creating one new vendor and the prelude was as underwhelming as it can get.

I don’t neccessarily have a problem with that, but I do feel they promised far more then they delivered.

Too little too late.
They need to listen to the community and produce what the community wants.

Yes because the community speaks with a clear and consistent single voice, always remembering to keep in mind that ANet only has so much time and money to throw at every request and fully keeping in mind the technical complexity that some of these requests will entail.

I’m confused a bit by “too little too late.” I suppose “too little so far” would make sense if you really don’t believe there have been enough content additions by now (in which case, oh man the expectations), but what would give anyone the impression that roughly 6 months out was “too late” for anything?
