Jeff Grubb to leave ANet
ANet may give it to you.
I like that guy. I wish I was as creative as him.
Jeff Grubb’s last day with ANet is February 12. He is taking a position with Amazon Game Studio.
Good luck in your new job.
Goodbye Jeff Grubb, and thanks!
P.S. (though I know it’s very unlikely he reads the GW2 forums): ever since I read The Brothers’ War almost 20 years ago, I’ve seen the name Gixx pop up here, there and everywhere. I have always assumed you came up with the name, yourself, and I didn’t know that you were involved in GW2 until I came across the NPC of that name and (out of suspicion) Googled for your name in connection with GW2.
Of course, that didn’t exactly settle it, and I’m still mildly curious—not enough to try very hard to find out, but enough to use it as an excuse to mention that I’m a fan!
Anyway, it’s a fantastic name, and as a budding nerd I loved that book. Its successors in that collection were interesting in their own right, but none of them really evoked the full scope of the M:tG lore like TBW.
As for Guild Wars 2, I certainly hope ArenaNet carries on in a fitting manner in your absence. Best of luck!

Take it easy, Jeff. Best of luck in your new position!
Been a fan since before your dragonlance days. May all your new adventures be full of Kender and may your nights be Draconian free.
Best of luck!
Aww. I’ve been a fan of Jeff Grubb for a long time. Good luck in your new work Jeff!
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Good luck Jeff.
And this is the 2nd ANet person who left for Amazon in the last 6 months.
RIP City of Heroes
Good luck Jeff.
And this is the 2nd ANet person who left for Amazon in the last 6 months.
It’s like the 4th or 5th person that we know of….
Ghosts of Ascalon is by far my favourite GW2 novel so this is a shame.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
Good luck Jeff.
And this is the 2nd ANet person who left for Amazon in the last 6 months.
Only heard of Eric Flannum.
RIP City of Heroes
It sucks that he is leaving; however, on the same token… I am highly curious and interested in what the new guy will lead us story wise.
2015-2016
Fort Aspenwood
Good luck Jeff.

Pleasant adventures to you, Jeff!
I’ve always respected and enjoyed your creative mind. I sincerely look forward to seeing what it produces for AGS.

Still a few left according to what this guy found (list not necessarily complete).
The company has been in business for over 10 years now. There’s going to be a natural amount of attrition as people move on to different jobs over time. No one reasonable would expect anything different.

Their rate of employee turnover seems pretty normal to me.
Best of luck to Jeff in his future endeavors!

Because bigger companies like Microsoft, Google and Amazon can offer developers more money than Anet who has made two games in a single franchise and has no other income. Most of the people who left recently were hired away by bigger publishers who have deeper pockets. If you worked for Anet, even if you loved it there and someone offered you a salary that was 30-50% more than you were making, what would you do?
Respect to Gaile…there for over 15 years!
I can’t stand to be in a company for a year before I move on lol

Well there’s that but after X years, something new sounds fun.

I’ve always been more of a company guy. Once I settled into a position in a company I’d move through the company but it took a lot to get my switch. Maybe it’s just a case of being comfortable and happy, and not wanting to risk not being so in a new place. But yes, a lot of people like moving around. Particularly if you can get rewarded financially for doing so.
Best of luck on your next endeavor!
