July 1rst :)
I guess it depends on if they run into any hang ups….
Could be as early as noon (9am pacific) but I’m thinking it’ll probably be sometime between noon and 3.
But they don’t run the game on Pacific time. They run the time on GMT. That time zone is 4 hours ahead of the East Coast. It is currently after noon on the east coast. So it’s 4 pm GMT and still no sign of a download at all even though it’s July first for a chunk of the world. There’s part of the world (like Austrailia) where it’s already July 2nd and still no patch download.

Sure, the game runs on GMT…. but their office hours don’t.
It’s only 9:25am 7-1-14 for them now.
The game is maintained by a company within the Pacific timezone. You can’t expect them to go out-of-their-way to be up and working at 5am to launch the new patch just because their in-game timers are set to GMT.

Historically, I remember the earliest being ~11 PDT and the latest being like ~3 PDT – that’s not fact-based, but my memory only.
PST is were they are based and they work around that time zone—it’s the way it has always been, GMT or a date on the the other side of the dateline means sfa.
Given that, you would think with all anets hype, they would have been ready for the launch as well as even preloading the new content. When it goes live, you will likely be waiting even longer while their servers get hit.

The updates are based on their local time which is currently about 09:30 in the morning.
They can’t really have a time that would be “right” for the whole world, so putting it on their own time makes sense, seeing as that is when they work.

and of course they will all disappear for the July 4th holiday as well. That should make for an interesting weekend.
At 13:00 local time starts the “Belgium Bash”. The release will be launched before or several hours after the end of the match.

They seem to usually aim for 12:00 Seattle O’Clock (Pacific Time/ UTC -8:00), but yeah historically they’ve had some minor delays but I think 3-4 hours has been be max.
My estimation about 2 hours, at least.
Look, i’m just saying. If they say they’re going to release it on July 1st, they need to take into consideration the rest of the world. As I stated it’s already July 2nd in Australia. Regardless of where they are based, they could have done the work yesterday, but they put it off. When they launched an MMO they began catering to the world. Not only the Pacific coast, because it’s not just played in the Pacific coast.

There’s your problem, Ravenfeathers, thinking time is linear. In actuality, it’s a big ball. In essence, your own clock is responsible for your misguided belief in that the patch is late; if it didn’t tell time linearly, you wouldn’t have this problem.
Ugh
They always (always, always, always) specify that patches happen based on pacific time.

And how is that accurate? I live in the East Coast of the US. I’m taking into consideration time zones for the globe, i’ve mentioned different times for different areas in every post.
It goes live when it goes live nothing will ever change that. Also Anet has a really sick sense of humor and for every person who asks when it goes live they delay it 30 min.
Slightly ahead of schedule, or at least my imagined schedule

It’s ahead of when I planned on seeing it, not gonna complain though… just means I have that much more time for my system to download before I get home
Now where the hell are we going to enter Maguuma!?

So which time should they cater to?
If the cater to Australia it will basically be released one day before in parts of the world.
Yes, they could have done the work yesterday, released it at midnight and then have us wait for any fixes for game-breaking issues until they got back to work later that day.
Or they could do as they always do and release it rather early during their workday so that they have most of the day in order to fix such issues as fast as possible.

What exactly is the point of this ridiculous argument about global time concerning patches, etc.??? They’re a west coast based company, and their patch times are based on their company’s working hours….therefore, the patch times are based on U.S. west coast time zone.
Deal with it.
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.

They and most of the other servers are NA based. Of course they go for NA timezones. Expecting otherwise would be asinine.
