These have to be the absolute worst thing I have ever seen added to a game. They are frustrating, annoying, and frankly only make me incredibly mad thinking anyone actually likes these things. I don’t get at all what is so great about them?

This seems like such a horrible version of mmo content. Why is jumping around like a rabbit so fun for people? I don’t get this. If I wanted to bother with puzzles I would play something else other than an MMORPG.

However what this really tells me is that Guild Wars 2 has absolutely no idea what it wants to be. It seems so uttely chaotic in design and all over the place rather than a cohesive experience. The funniest thing is they probably added jumping puzzles to the game because they figured you had to have a reason to jump in the game. Not really.

So this is an aspect of the game I will likely never enjoy or experience because I hate being frustrated by it. Anywho, that is my feedback. Too many traps, puzzles and werd stuff centered around something that seems so far from anything resembling real game content.

I hate jumping puzzles. They are the worst thing ever to me. They make me want to slam my face against my keyboard.

… so I don’t do them. They’re completely optional, and as far as I can gather, the reward from this year’s isn’t all that substantial anyway. If you want the title achievement, there are plenty of other achievements you can get to contribute towards it.

Don’t worry about it too much. If you hate them like I do, just don’t do them.

The reward positively sucks so you aren’t missing anything. I love jumping puzzles and this one was frustrating at first until I calmed down and realized I didn’t have to go as fast as I could. Like I said, I love them but I understand some people really hate them. I despise dungeons but it is my understanding some people enjoy them. (shudder!)

You won’t miss anything by not doing it except the achievement. If you really want the achievement, relax a little. You have more time than you think you do.

I was just doing a jumping puzzle today and thinking about how awesome GW2 is because of them (and other things).

Yea I don’t normally post, but had to here.

JP’s are fine. I logged in last night, tried it, failed about 10 times. I got mad at one point, then said “ok focus look at what happens and plan ahead”

So i planned and tried again

Know what happened? I beat it!

It felt good because I had overcome and also got a nice hefty karma jug at the end.

Now I can do it w/ my eyes closed.

So no, they are not to hard. They are only hard if you let yourself be defeated by you. Not the game. You.

I just feel like I am missing out on awesome content in the game. I really did try to deal with these puzzles here and there and give them a chance, but man do they bug me!

It’s true that they are optional, but I hate that how in a game real life seems to seep in. I don’t want to be reminded of my failings as a human being, and how bad I suck at solving things. It just depresses me further! Even if I was good at them it would only improve my situational problem solving skills when it comes to rock climbing or some other activity in real life that this closesly resembles. Then again I probably wouldnt’ be jumping around pillars in some dark cave somewhere acting like i have unlimited lives.

I enjoy Jumping Puzzles.

I’ve completed the current jump puzzle over sixteen times. It’s quite simple, you just have to abuse your knowledge of camera control. You have to know your time subconsciously. You have to pay attention to your health.

Gingerbread Man path is the easiest by the way. Snow man path is the hardest. The Quaggan path is annoying but easy.

I’m a huge fan of jumping puzzles. I enjoyed the mad king’s clock tower.

They are completely optional, if you don’t like them, don’t do them.
I personally want more, harder puzzles as pretty much any but the clock tower are extremely easy.

I enjoy some jumping puzzles. I’ve done a few in the early zones that were fun enough without being too stressful. I like the WvW one in the Borderlands, so much that I run it once or twice a day (w/ different characters), assuming it’s (relatively) safe. I also enjoy doing the EB one, though it’s long, and I’ll only do it when we are dominant in EB and I don’t fear being help upside by my feet while all my money spills out on the floor. Though it’s enjoyable when there are enemies there that aren’t interested in killing you so much as completing the puzzle.

What I don’t like are the timed ones. Where I don’t get to take my time with them. Even some of the ones where you have to time wind so you aren’t blow off, or navigate fire or something, those can be timed internally and planned. I don’t like being rushed at things, it makes me uncomfortable.

So I don’t do those. So far, it happens that the two event jump puzzles were that variety, so I didn’t get to do them. That’s ok. I do excel at the bell thing on the stage, so I do that, a lot. Still haven’t had a perfect score, but I’m trying.

Honestly, when people talk about how much they hate jumping puzzle I realize how much I love it because their points prompt me to think in-depth about it.

Personally it is a different challenge than the usual tank n spank that MMOs offer in basically anything, select mob then kill by using 1,2,3 till death. which WoW (didn’t why pioneer this form of repetition?), Aion, TERA emphasize too much.

On the other hand, GW2 has arguably more variety, even if some people think it is silly like jumping around, throwing rocks to break a boss’ shield, using only a hammer on a seal etc. Again, having played the above MMOs for a couple of years, strictly tank n spank gets too old FAST and boring. GW2 has some of it but it is not omnipresent.

Keep jumping puzzles in the game as an option for players but have alternatives for others to gain the same rewards!

See that is the thing… where in the world is the difficulty indicator? And how in the world can I know where all these jumping puzzles are even located? If I knew one had a stupid timer I wouldn’t bother with it. If I knew the snow man puzzle was going to have platforms that fall out from under me, then I also wouldn’t have bothered with that. And so it seems to be a guessing game on which one to do. I don’t even know where this gingerbread jumping puzzle is. All I know is i felt so utterly left out cause I sucked that, in combination with hunger from this diet I am on, made me upset. Even though I am usually upset and depressed, but that is besides the point!

I would at least love to see a way to know where these puzzles are, what limitations like time trials they have, and their difficulty. Does this information exist in the game somewhere?

There is no difficulty indicator in game. You can go to Dulfy (just google dulfy gw2) and she has a whole list of the puzzles and where they are and how to do them if you need help. For some people, there are some that will just be impossible. Others are pretty simple. Many have beautiful scenery.

I am the type of person that hates to be bad at anything or can’t do something. I will spend hours if I need to on a puzzle. If I get frustrated (mad), I leave it and come back to it later. The later may be a few hours, days or weeks depending on how mad it made me. I didn’t have that option with the clock tower.

Here is a video I made for a contest. The theme is jump puzzles. I make my husband do them with me. He doesn’t particularly like them either!

Jump puzzles are optional. I hate them too but I can choose not to do them even though when I find one I get stubborn and try anyway. Vistas, now that’s a load of bull. I hate doing vistas, I hate how much time I waste doing them and I hate that I need them for map completion. :C

Yeah Vistas at first were okay, but after awhile they became nothing more then super simple jumping puzzles; with a few harder ones added in to the mix.

I thought I must have been the only person in the game who didn’t like JP’s, guess not. Apparently there are a few just in this thread alone who share this sentiment to some degree.

I think that jumping puzzles makes the game unique and it offers a different challenge outside of the normal PVP/PVE content. I enjoyed it alot and it gives great satisfaction when you managed to solve it.

JPs are completely optional.

This.

This game is a MMORPG. This means it will be a game with many different activities, and automatically, there are some you will dislike. Does it mean they are bad? Nope, since a huge amount of people actually enjoy those.

Thankfully for you, those puzzle are totally optional, you don’t need to do them at all to get any reward.

i also fall miserable all over the places, but i become stubborn when i find one and i must complete it… the only thought to come back to a map just because i have still to complete the jumping puzzles makes me shiver… but, if i am alone, i have no one waiting for me at the end of the puzzles, and platform won’t fall after seconds in the end i can do it… what it annoys me the most are the jumping and the dodging in some dungeons fractals or citadel of flame, that make me suffer because usually people have to wait for me and that stress me a lot (expecially with random people), i feel like when i was an unexperienced monk in gw1 pvp dying in 2 seconds and be blamed for failure…

We have a slew of dedicated JP’ers in the guild. I have some lag on my connection and bunch of big toons (i.e charr & Norns) Not a great combo for successful JP. Smaller toons seem to work better for me.

Don’t really care for them in any case. But hey, lots of people love em. There is a little something for everybody in this game.
