Hello everyone!

I don’t know where to post this, it’s kinda GW2 related so I think it’s fine here, if I posted in the wrong section excuse me. So, well… if I would like to have a tattoo of a GW2 concept art or any official art, do I have to ask for permission? Or how does this goes? Actually, not now but later I would like to have a tattoo of one of the dragons, as … yeah I know so surprisingly I “really love dragons” but so far I found only a few cool dragon art and also GW2 has awesome dragons and I also love the art style (so far thinking about the Shatterer, but wanna see later all the dragons and the big ones like Zhaitan) and I don’t know if I need any permission for them. I don’t know how this work and I don’t want any copyright stuff, like Anet rip off my skin from my back

I would appreciate any answer, but would prefer one ANet answer too, please ^.^

Don’t believe so. Yes the artwork is copyright protected, but you are not exploiting their work to your profit, which is one of the things copyright protects you from.

Wow, my copyright lessons on school come in handy on a forum like this. :p

Also: I have seen multiple photo’s of people with GW tattoo’s, check GW2’s Facebook, and they only seem to love it!

It depends on where you gonna tattoo that dragon…

There are places that can make the dragons small, big or even places that can make them stretch…

I think that you are fine, as long as you don’t make a profit out of them!

Even if they did not allow it, how would they know that you didn’t go through with it? And will they be able to make the argument that the tattoo looks exactly like their dragon’s and thus copies their intellectual property?

On an unrelated note, are you sure you want to make a perma tattoo of a dragon? What if you end up not liking the game? It’s like having a Tattoo of some boss in Aion or SWTOR ;P

Copying is fine, under fair use, just like me printing their artwork and hanging it above my bed (not that I do) just distributing it and exploiting their work for your own benefit is illegal. This should be possible, but yea not my kind of tattoo :p

Well there is still nothing in the world for me that I loved and I hate it now, except for some foods but dragon are something else, I freakin love them, also as a beginner digital artist I love the gw2 art style too, this is just too perfect for me.

Also thanks for the answers
