Guild Wars 2

Just throwing this out there for a bit of perspective as it’s something I tend to forget:

Yes it’s frustrating that the new update hasn’t arrived yet, but if it was going to happen to any game I play I’d pick Guild Wars 2. Why?

Because they can keep the servers up while they do the update.

If my other MMO, or any other I know of, had been in the same situation they would have taken the servers offline when they started the process of updating and they would have to keep them offline for the entire time they were working on it. Meaning the entire game would be inaccessible.

At least this way we have the entire existing game, everything up to Season 3, Episode 3 to play while we wait. (Well I don’t because I’m at work, but you know what I mean.)

On top of that we’re not paying for it. Not only are we not ‘losing’ subscription time to the update but we won’t pay for it when it does come either. If you’re currently waiting for the update you’re almost certainly going to log in during the weeks/months of it’s release period, so you’ll get the whole thing for free.

No it’s not ideal. It messed up my evening (in the sense that I had to play something else and couldn’t really enjoy it because I really wanted to be playing the new update) and it might well mess up my next evening as well. But I’d much prefer to be waiting on a GW2 update than any other game I play.
