Q:
Just bought the game....

Warrior…..easy and unfortunately the best in every single part of the game…
Races are not important they have some exclusive skills but they doesn t matter.Guardian is second.
I’m sure some would debate you on this particular aspect, at least in sPvP/WvWvW. I think condition necros are the best in sPvP personally. Warriors are good if played right, but as a guardian I can tell you that I generally own Warriors unless they are condi/longbow builds. But then we’re getting into the rock/paper/scissors thang.
In PvE, Warrior has the advantage hands-down, which is what the OP was asking for anyway, so you were correct there. High health pool, strong regen, high DPS, there’s really no downside. Guardian would be second like you said as well. High damage mitigation, awesome heals, strong DPS.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Guardians stomp pve from my experience

Guardian is second.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
I’ve leveled 5 of the 8 classes, so I can only speak on those. That said, the Warrior or Guardian are the most survivable and are the most forgiving to a new player learning the game.
Also, Necromancer with minions can be fairly easy to learn and survive with, so long as enemies attacks your minions instead of you. =]
As far as race goes, none is really better than the other. Although there are race specific skills, none of them are far superior to others. So yeah, choose whichever race seems coolest to you.
Good luck and enjoy Guild Wars 2!
Warriors, rangers and guardians are considered pretty easy classes to start with. That being said, pick what interests you, if you like it enough but it seems to take a bit more practice to master you’ll probably put the time in. You start with 5 character slots so I would play around with a few of classes to see what you prefer. Race is not such a big influence long-term except to consider how you want to look.

Depends which class you like. I got all class in 80s I can tell you the easiest character to lvl is guardian. Hardest is mesmer.
If you want a bit easy to start with go for guardian or warrior.
This game lvling by doing main, sub quest. Story line. Run map, world vs world. Many way. Remember don’t just killing enemy will take forever.
Good luck for it.
The game goes easy on beginners on any class, so choose the one you think you’ll enjoy. If you’re concerned about late game then the only class that might be actually problematic (as opposed to just weaker than others) is ranger due to the pet mechanics being an issue in some situations. That said, ranger is a lot of fun in open world, especially for beginners.

races are not important ability wise, but they matter from size perpective
asura are the smallest. and being small gives advantage in jumping puzzles and pvp(harder to notice smaller animations)
I’ve leveled and played them all at 80. Nothing beats a warrior for a beginner if you want to play with other people a lot. Everyone is always glad to have you around for dungeons and stuff. You have high base hit points, do great damage and have some good ways to provide buffs.
If you want to solo PvE content in the open worldand roam the open world, Ranger is still arguably the best at it IMO. The pet helps keep you clean a lot, you can kite to your hearts content and your Rampage as One elite power is always worth using.
Asura are a commonly suggested race for mechanical purposes since being small they have an advantage in being less noticeable in PvP situations and, because of the way vision works in the game, being small is an advantage in seeing during jumping puzzles and vistas and such.

For jumping puzzles is totally the opposite….
You would like to read the old clocktower thread XD…
Where enormous Norns and charrs totally covered asura and even humans and silvary

1: Warrior, Guardian, Necromancer.
2: Ranger, Mesmer, Engineer.
3: Elementalist, Thief.
All can perform quite equally when leveling, they just require more experience and are more strict to build decisions.
With necromancer you can do well with epidemic conditions, also minion builds and well-builds. On warriors, nearly anything works. Rangers can do good with trap builds and beastmaster builds. Guardians, I was using S/F and GS, which is a quite offensive setup and could take on large amounts of mobs 3 levels past me. Thief dodgetrops and deathblossom spam, or S/P. Engineers are masters of CC and got high survival and good dmg, I went to cursed shore at lvl 66 o.O

in some jp norns and camera don’t do well, hence advantage to asuras
and imo jp’s aren’t smth meant to be zerged to cover each other. you took one of 2 exceptions – time limited jps (clocktower and last years wintersday) where players starts as a group – and say “For jumping puzzles is totally the opposite”. wat?

Let say that for JP human/silvary is better….

Thanks for the responses guys, downloading the client now, seems like it’s taking forever, lol. Do servers matter? I’m looking for one with a medium population.
I’d say get into the highest pop server you can, or near enough. There are so many things to do in the game that you might not see many people about. Especially in open world levelling.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

server matters only for wvw (world versus world – massive 3 sided server vs server pvp). being on higher population server has huge advantage
for pve you can always use guesting system to play with friends or other ppl on other servers (exception EU servers cannot guest/play with NA servers)
for dungeons servers doesn’t matter (exception EU servers cannot play with NA servers)

it does.
Highly populated servers have better chance to kill world bosses (notice that every player attending an event get a separate drop…..so the more the merrier).
Highly populated server also means you are more likely to meet somoene before level 80
Highly populated server means you will have to wait a lot to enter WWW :/ (pro and cons….).
i would still choose a highly populated server….
p.S. you can guest but its still better to be in your own server due to guild bonuses etc
