Q:
Just bought the game. 100.000 files to patch?
A:
The launcher isn’t really helpful in this case since it doesn’t know the size of the file until it begins to download it. The progress bar is only a little helpful since although it might look like you’re almost complete, the larger files might be at that last 1% (the progress is based on # of files downloaded, not size).
The total size of the game is around 16-18 GB, so subtract the size of your gw2.dat file from that, and that’s the size you have remaining.
same here, it looks like taking 4-5 hours for me
Let it run overnight. A lot of things have been added to the game since release.
Since you’ll have likely plenty of time, welcome to the forums! And of course GW2.
Rising Dusk, yeah i will probably do that. We have lots of files

Thank you, i hope I will have fun
total size about 17g.
Yeah it’s the only downloader ever that goes by number of files rather than file size…very very strange and also annoying:(
Well, LOTRO’s downloader goes by number of files as well. Also, often its count is wrong, esp. when there’s thousands of them.

Unlikely, as files probably get partially or completely overwritten.
At least GW2 gets it out of the way at the beginning. It was a bit frustrating to sit through a couple dozen megs of updates upon launch in GW1, only to be hit with a few further dozen megs when you loaded into a zone.
