I just came back after quitting (due to time constraints) very shortly after release.

I dont have any character worth continuing, what would be a good character to roll right now?

I’m debating between Engineer/Thief maybe others

Guardian would give a strong platform as far as those go. Plus, nothing beats a human in heavy T3 for sharpness
