Just got an Unidentified Dye from a plant.
Yeah I got one yesterday from one of those spots that have a bunch of plants.
“Instead”? I was to my understanding (and experience) that unidentified dye/dandelion is the loot that you receive in addition to the plant. The dye/dandelion is a one of the other thing, but I have never seen or heard of the dye and the carrot/etc being a one of the other thing.
Well on the first try of picking the plant up I didn’t get a carrot, but an unidentified dye. Then the plant didn’t disappear on the first try, so I tried to pick it up again, then I got a carrot. o-o
Being able to get those extra harvests is a reward for doing well in WvW, and happens fairly frequently. Even if your server is pretty much getting shut out you will still see that WvW related harvesting crit every now and then towards the end of the WvW match.
But not receiving a plant at all is rather strange. Are you sure you didn’t just miss it, and you actually did receive a carrot the first time as well? If so this changes my understanding of loot tables for gathering.
Just so everyone is clear, receiving unidentified dyes from plant harvesting nodes is nothing new. It’s been that way since launch.
i’ve gotten a lot of dyes from plants. I’d say that’s where i got at least half of mine from. like edge says…nothing new.
You get jewels from mining….hidden troves from sutting down trees…and dyes from harvesting. It’s nothing new.
i got 2 unidentified dye from a single plant node the other day.

Got 3 dyes today (two from nodes, one from mob) in about 2 hours of playing..

Yes it does. Went low lvl and get around 5 or so too…
I got an unid dye from a grape bush in the Trolls End jumping puzzle and it turned out to be the Abyss… ^^
