So I’m not 100% sure what I did wrong, but I have an idea. For the first time since beta, I decided to finish my personal story because I just happened to see a party in LFG with 4/5 people for story. So I quickly switched to my main and jumped in. However my main was working on LS2 achievements and I forgot to quit the episode. I didn’t even realize that it was still active.

The party was already in the dungeon after the 1st cut scene. I was not the initiator and didn’t have ownership of the dungeon. After a surprisingly easy but long hour we finally killed the bugger. The thing I was putting off since launch was finally finished. I got the achievement for discovering all dungeons and unlocked the reward track for Arah, but no savior achievement.

So was the thing I did wrong was not quitting the LS2 episode and activating my personal story? If so, that can cause problems for those who don’t realize or forget which is active because you can’t change story modes while in an instance. So the moment I entered the dungeon and realized I didn’t have it active, I’d have to sheepishly say, “guys can we go back, I forgot something” No one would like to hear that.

The other things that crossed my mind was: I was not the dungeon owner – which wouldn’t make sense because only one member out of a party of 5 would get credit. Another was that they were already in the dungeon when I joined – which doesn’t make sense either.

You might want to post this in the bug forum. It would seem to me that the intended result would be completion of whichever story element you’re on.

Did you do the “celebration” part, the very last one in the PS? because that is when you get all the stuff, not actually when the Arah Zhaitan affair ends.

No, when I realized that my LS2 was still active I switched to my PS when I could and it still said “Victory or Death” – Kill Zhaitan. Maybe I still can, where am I supposed to go if my story tracker still says to kill the dragon. I did hang out and talk to the NPC’s on board the ship but nobody said anything about a celebration. Other than that there were fireworks going off. The rest of my party by that time had left the dungeon and I hadn’t seen them gone anywhere.

Just logged back in and ran over to fort trinity. Nothing. Green starburst stays over dungeon.

Well, yeah. You only get credit for the story episode you’re on. I’m not sure how it could work any other way.

You should have just asked the people in the dungeon if you could pop outside, and explained the reason. If they’re doing a Story path, they’re not going to be hardcore speed-runners or anything. Chances are they were finishing their own personal story as well. I’ve found people are generally quite understanding, in that sort of situation.

Well hindsight is always 20/20. Like I said I didn’t realize that I even had the LS active. I know I should have checked, I know should have done this or that, but sometimes mistakes happen. If it’s intentional design by the devs then I would request some warning feature to remind us idiots who forget to check. Lord knows they have enough warnings/reminders for us already in game, why not another one?

Hmm..I thought it said something like ‘This is not the Story/Episode you are currently on…’.

But, maybe it only says that when you enter someone else’s instance. I’m not sure.

Are you sure you were on the right character and story step (‘Victory or death’)? You would be unable to start S2 episodes on a character who hasn’t finished personal story. And if you were doing this, you likely completed PS a while back on this character and won’t get credit again. I know because I tried running alts in PS for the skins and it wouldn’t let me start episodes on those missing S1, the basic PS up to Arah story.

Exact same thing happened to me. I was working on living story 2 and heard someone advertise for final. So I jumped in, knowing all I had left on my personal story was the last piece of it. Didn’t bother to press “H” and change which story I had clicked. No credit. Seems absurd that the game would make you do that before it gives you credit. Not happy.

Apologies but this is incorrect, Season Two is definitely available to alts not yet done with PS. One of my trio of LS runners is still on the level 60 step of letting the Pale Tree send him to a vision of Arah. He’s quite easily done every chapter this season.

I’m fairly sure even accounts that have not ever killed Zhaitan can still jump into LS2.

No, the OP is correct, the problem lay in having a different active story going.

You can even do the last step of the LS without having done the first…

It IS still a problem. You can do all the LS in any way you want. That’s not the point. The point is that it is stupid that you can do the entire last personal story mission and not get credit just because you forgot to the click back onto it from the living story. That’s just silly.
