Just lost about 30 minutes of progress
I can deal with a lot of bugs and stuff, and I love the game and generally have few complaints. But this is not okay.

Rolled back. I haven’t seen this in a game in a while or at least while I was on and actually noticed the lost progress.

It appears if you disconnected while the login servers were having issues, any progress you made in that zone since you waypointed or zonned in is lost.
Yea, I just lost 30 minutes of play time and a ton of POI’s. I was so flustered I had to put the game down.

the real aggravating issue is that only a small portion of us got rolled back, a lot of players did not, i for one lost a good amount of progression and over 2g…
Typical fanboys in map chat justifying the crash, yet choose to be ignorant that the recent crash was a roll back.
I take it roll backs are a common thing in mmorpgs?
I lost ALL of my progress through TA SM, which I just finished as I got kicked. Loot, XP and all. But the best part? The game still managed to remember the loads of silver I used up repairing my armour -_-
what is funny is that it seems, at least for me, that the game looks more buggy than BWE2 :-P
If you’re this upset over 30 minutes of progress being lost in a computer game then you need to step back and take a real hard look at your priorities.
30 minutes of game time is a lot for some folks. Part of the allure and promise of GW2 was the ability to log in for 30 mins and accomplish something unlike other mmo’s. If this becomes commonplace there will be an issue, but the game is still new.
They should, however, post on the login screen that a rollback occurred and take some of the shock away.

Honestly, at this point I’m less upset about about the “lost hour” of progress than the official response (on Twitter, no less) of “Due to the nature of the outage, we will be unable to restore any progression or items. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience .” ^MK
Seriously? Are any steps being taken to ensure this doesn’t happen again? Quite frankly I don’t really feel like playing again until I at least know what happened and have some sort of official statement towards a repeat of this incident not occurring in the future.
If compensation cannot be forthcoming (and enjoy the fallout on that, btw), then at least do the professional thing and address this issue in an official channel (not Twitter).

I was wondering when some twit was going to post this obnoxious comment (no, I was not baiting it, but after I posted my thread, I just knew someone would say it).
Sure, so far it’s only happened once and it was only around 30 minutes (probably closer to an hour when I think about it).
But now that it’s happened, what’s to say it won’t happen again and more than 30-60 minutes is lost when it does.
This is not cool. Any official word about this?

I have NEVER had this happen in any other game I’ve played (WoW, AoC, Eve, Aion, Rift, LoTRO, FFXIV) and so far this has happened twice to me in GW2. Their official response via Twitter is rather lame.

Also Aion had massive character corruption causing loss of entire characters to some players.

Letting a company know when you are dissatisfied with part of their product is an effective means of getting them to fix it. Just because other players have higher standards than you, doesn’t mean it’s wrong to speak up.

OP shared his experience which is 30 minutes but there are other players who are reporting up to 5 to 6 hours of progression lost.
People aren’t generally complaining to alert developers, they are complaining to have their 30 minutes recovered. Don’t give people that much credit please.

I too lost some progress yesterday and I immediately recognized there was a rollback. Something serious went down with their authentication last night… errors with gems… something’s amiss this week and it’s pretty serious because it keeps taking down the TP… think financials database or something eerily similar.

I agree with this guy. Spot on. Issue is known, nothing we can do, we know we won’t get the progress back as the servers simply didn’t record it.
