Just show me your skins already! No. I don’t want to see stats. That’s not what this game is about, and isn’t why people play it. However I do want to see what skins people are wearing and what dyes they are using in their dye channels!

I’d be totally cool with that. But in the meantime, don’t hesitate to ask! Most folks are willing to share their looks.

Yeah, when ever I notice some one asking me about skins or dyes, I’m quite happy to tell them. I don’t care if they want to copy my look.

You can also search GW2 Efficiency or similar sites, in case the person has saved their API there to be available publicly (allows you to inspect their skins without ANet making a change to the game).

I would be fine with this and have an “anonymous” option if people want to be mysterious. But I am concerned that if Anet creates this means of “inspect”, they will create the ability to inspect stats as well.

They would just need to show the wardrobe screen for a character that’s not you.

They would just need to show the wardrobe screen for a character that’s not you.

And then imagine if people found out a way to glitch it into allowing you to change someone else’s wardrobe options too. XD

OMG, that would be so hilarious for a while.

That would be hilarious. Even as a glitch I would think it would use your own transmutation charge currency so it could just be good fun. Might even boost sales for transmutation charges people usually never buy from the gem store.

Why are you all so against inspecting others gear and stats? There’s already a huge portion of elitism and it wouldn’t change anything for those who don’t care (you can always make your “all welcome” group) – only make things easier for those who actually do care, mainly in fractals, raids and dungeons. People don’t even bother to read lfg description sometimes, so it would be really helpful.

Only if I get to use your transmutation charges to return my look to how I want it and your gems if you don’t have enough or your gold if you don’t have enough gems. I don’t want to have to use my transmutation charges to undo a change that someone else did.

Because I certainly wouldn’t find that glitch funny at all. Not even in the slightest. I chose the skins I did because I liked them. I wouldn’t want my work undone because of a glitch and because someone else thinks it’s funny to change my skins.

The game has bigger issues at the moment. Maybe in three more years or something.

No need to be so serious for something that wouldn’t happen ^-^ Bit of a slip of the mind that people would need to spend their own to change it back, but I was thinking more about well off friends doing it to each other. The what if situation dimension support would always help change it back also

If you really want to know what my avatar is wearing, take a screenshot and use the wardrobe option in the bank. I’d rather the developers spent time making things that are needed rather than making it easier for players to get such functionality when there’s an existing option that just requires the player to make a wee bit more effort.

Also, if the devs do put in a cosmetic inspect, the next thing will be complaints like, “Why can’t we also inspect stats?” Better to bar the gate before the livestock escapes.
