Just started really wondering about something
I’ve made about six or seven human characters over the past three years, and in my experience the god you choose doesn’t seem to make any difference.
it is a cosmetic /Killjoy.
I feel like in alpha/beta it probably affected which human utility skills you got (like hounds of balthazar) but they backpeddaled on that and just let people have them all, probably so you couldn’t ruin a character by picking the wrong god or something.
But that’s a total guess.
Oh ok. Sot it’s just nothing more than an “I’m making a pointless statement that doesn’t contribute to a greater cause.” then. Thanks guys
Right now, it’s just for flavor, and has no in-game function.
If you ask me, I’d say they left it in there in case they wanted to expand on it in the future. It’s an obvious case of sowing a narrative hook that you can choose to either use or discard later on. In this case, I think they decided it they would rather just focus on one story with call backs to other choices you’ve made (such as your Order mentor) instead of implementing a new branching sequence. When you consider that’s 18 branches (6 human, 3 for everything else,) it’s not hard to understand that decision.
Probably one of those things that was part of the more holistic roleplaying side of character creation, like the attitude system that just never really got off the ground.
However, it is still there, and they’ve displayed a desire with HoT to weave character creation and personal story in small ways in to ongoing content so it could still come up in later releases.
