Heyho Guys and Lads,

playing this game for a year now, following the forums quite frequently and this is my first post.

Inspiring it is a talk i had with some of my guildies and all the negative statements at the moment.

First I want to say that I’m playing mmos for like… 14 years now? Ultima Online was the first i played casually, and with Dark Age of Camelot i really got into the genre and since then Mmos ate up quite a bit of my life time, with some years of a pause cuz starting to study and had my doubts that while playing mmos i could focus enough on important real life things. gw2 did the thing i feared a bit: draw me back into online gaming. in fact, that was the reason i wasnt here when the game started, i thought it would chew up too much of my time. well, things were moving on in my life, had a lot of free time so i thought, hey give it a try. what im trying to say, when i play a mmorpg im spending a lot of time with it… a bit too much to be honest.

So here’s my point: This is by far the best MMo i have ever played. So much original stuff in it. The questing, the art, the endgame, their take on gameplay and classes… i didnt think it was possible i would loose myself again in a game like this, buuuut they got me :’(

And the best part: you dont even have to pay a monthly fee for it.

To get it out: I don’t think anet handles perfectly. There are a lot of flaws that annoy me. Of course the dungeon experience. It’s a shame for a game like this. And in my eyes its mostley due to all the “exploits” anet just lets go. all the skipping, buggin out of bosses etc…. sure, someday you know every dungeon inside out and its all easy going even without bugging, but its by far a bigger challenge if you dont stack etc… sure, its up to the player how to play but…. come on, it wouldn’t make THAT much development time to get most of it out of the way. the worst in my eyes is: its soooo much wasted potential.

next part: the story. the thing that bugs me the most is about the orders. you pick one for 3 personal story missions and than they r never mentioned again. uuuuuh, okay, you get an armor. and can enter theyr headquarter. big wup. i can hardly remeber which order im in with my characters anymore. why are there no order related open world quests? maybe even competing witht he other orders, who get the most of sth in a certain time? and when the goal of this even would just be which flag is flying the highest in lions arch it would be fun for me. maybe even like a 5% dmg boost in pve for players in the order who did the best in a certain time period. again, sooooo much wasted potential.

and another point: balance. in my eyes it really hinders anet that they have this whole esport thing in their mind. why not just make a pve and a pvp balance? in every other game i played there alwys was a fotm class, and it changed regularly. in my eyes its a good thing. this month is this class slightly overpowered, next another. it brings variety in the game. when you always have “perfect” balance in your mind it brings staleness to your game. again, in my eyes, wasted potential.

So, back to my main point: Its the best online game ive ever played, despite all that. they make so much just right that i enjoy playing, even if its just some hours a week. i think that there are so many complaints here just because all of the easily seen wasted potential. it is so annoying to enjoy a game so much and see at he same time so many weak spots.

a last word to HoT. i think the communication went very wrong from anets side. if they hve just stated: expansion wont come out before X maybe later, you know our standarts. and SORRY but no more content until then. well, people would still complain. but now they have a more valid reason, because they are treated like a child. and nobody likes that. and the whole price debate. get over it. this game is soooo much value for so little money.

Well….. that’s it. if anyone read it, thanks for your time and have a nice weekend

I agree with pretty much everything you said OP. It’s a great game, with some parts of it, particularly communication, badly handled.

But I don’t think anything will ever stop people from complaining. You can minimize reasonable complaints, but not everyone is going to be reasonable. 19 years in retail have taught me that. lol

Yeah, that’s oh so true just had the urge to write my opinion with all that negativity floating around. and maybe, only maybe someone will read this and thinks for a little moment about what he thinks about this game and where his or her emotions are coming from. and maybe adjusts his expectations just a little bit so this place is more enjoyable for everyone. i’m a hopeless optimist, i know. either that or go kitten you humanity

I think most people think the most recent changes are bad. Because if they didn’t we’d know about it. This is NOT a shy community.

There have been relatively few compliments, therefore I assume everything is wrong.

well, thats the point. most people speak up only when there is something to complain about. but maybe sometimes, or… always, it would be a good idea to step back a bit and try to put things in correlarion. oh well, i know my post is quite pointless… in the end just a prolonged: im a satisfied and happy customer, keep up the good work, haters r going to hate, changes r going to frighten people, no matter how small they are and honesty is a rare but important virtue, especially if you are in a position where a lot of people are listening to you. maybe its easier not to tell everything, but in the end you will have less problems. peace, yo
