KDB Daewoo: sales warning for HoT
Because the hype train got massively derailed, no matter what anyone says the lack of WvW and the push for Esports hurt players who play these formats, PvE was 4 maps.
I personally enjoy HoT, but it was not an expansion, it was paid for DLC, but from reading the blog posts from Anet, it seems they are working on a new expansion, so maybe we will see a full expansion this time.
Also what is hurting is really replay ability on the new maps, I made Nevermore at the weekend and honestly I have no incentive to go back to the HoT maps anymore, ive completed them all 100times over, newer players reading these forums or reading in game, who haven’t bought HoT are really seeing no reason too.
If the last expansion was not full then what will this full expansion cost?
You need to remember a lot of this expansion was setting up new systems: elite specializations, masteries, etc.
Now the backbone of those systems are set up, they will have more time to develop more content. I think we can expect a higher content count next expansion due to this.

While I understand what you are saying I feel like anet may have lost the trust of a lot of people with the way they marketed and priced HoT as a full expansion. Most people wouldn’t consider all of that infrastructure as expansion content, including myself, and this leads to HoT being pretty empty. Couple that in with all the things that HoT was supposed to come with that turned into “It’s coming after launch!” some of which we are still waiting for and there is a pretty nasty taste in your mouth.

I don’t know that most people think that deeply about it. They buy something they play it, they either play it enough for they don’t. That’s it for most people. Then again most people will never post on the forums.
Anet was very clear, crystal clear, before launch about the expansion content being lighter but that entire systems have been redefined so they could move forward. They said it directly.
They never said this is a huge expansion. But the amount of work that goes into redeveloping core systems is still work that needs to be paid for. Anyone paying attention should have gone into the xpac with open eyes.
Yes I think some people do think/feel like you said they do, but I’d wager it’s a much smaller percentage of the player base than you think it is.
Omg, I feel bad for Wildstar after looking at that chart…
I don’t know why anybody pays any attention to KDB given how far off they’ve been in the past. Speculation based on their figures is pointless.

Wow, its a pretty far off in its figures they wanted. This tells me this game isn’t living up to expectation for many people. Its sad but the numbers don’t lie, regardless of building new systems and what not, this was their 1 chance to bring back customers..its extremely hard to come back in this industry if you don’t succeed 2nd try.
Which would be an issue @Brimstar if KDB could guess well, except they can’t.
The 3Q15 official numbers came out from NCSOFT on Nov 4, 2015. KDB issued a report just 15 days before on October 20th.
Going to list KDB’s numbers then the actual reported, rounding to nearest billion KrW.
Lineage I — 72 — 78
Lineage II — 16 — 16
AION — 19 — 17
BnS — 27 — 25
GW2 — 25 — 21
WildStar — 2 — 2
Other — 20 — 15
Royalties — 23 — 23
Revenue — 204 — 196
Net Profits — 49 — 31
So KDB, with a day over two weeks, was 4% high or 8 billion high for sales and 58% high or 18 billion high for profits.
And it was KDB that first put forth the idea of HoT selling 2 million copies. After the PAX South announcement they assumed (15/3/11 report) that HoT would come out 3rd quarter and they estimated 158 billion KrW in sales in the 2nd half of 2015. We’re talking just the NA/EU region. Remember we didn’t get a ship date until PAX Prime at the end of August forcing KDB to revamp their 3rd and 4th quarter number in their October report.
Does anyone else remember that KDB thought the first expansion would be out in 2013?

Who’s numbers don’t lie? The actual numbers haven’t been announced yet. This is like a sports guy saying a specific team is going to win before the game starts. The numbers don’t lie.
But these aren’t the numbers.
Is this based on real quarterly sales? No.
This is a prediction by a third rate analist firm who have never in all those years predicted something right.
The only effect this sort of posts have is atracting trolls, who go all doom and gloom, like they Always do.Got some stats about the financial firm (not analist firm)to back up the hyperbole. The problem with posts like these is it attracts trolls from both sides. Btw it’s analyst ,attracting and affect LOL.
Oh look a spelling troll, who doesnt give one bit of constructive feedback. Whats the relevance of your post other then offending?

Doom and gloom post. And the complainers fill the board again.
Here is what I have to say about this (not that it matters):
- Bad rewards: got Astralaria, Yggdrasil, Fix-r-Upper, 6 ascended gear/weapon boxes
- Playtime: about 500h, maxed out Revenant, Reaper, Berserker, Druid, Scrapper and Dragonhunter
I will proceed the natural way and start with raiding soon. As I have now several almost fully ascended geared protagonists to achieve the goal. I am eager to do this. No, it’s really not that bad guys. Many forget all the little improvements we got. I can’t speak bout PvP and WvW since I almost never play those. As of WvW Colin Johansson told us in the last Guild Chat that the overhaul takes a lot more time than expected.
About PvP balancing, I really have no idea since I don’t play PvP, but what I read in forums of any competetive game with different classes is that they always complain about imbalances.
‘would of been’ —> wrong

Aye, it’s especially obnoxious when they take it upon themselves to ‘correct’ others, when they are incorrect. Your ‘effect’ was correct; his/her ‘affect’ was incorrect.
And with punctuation as bad as his/hers, he/she has no right to be ‘correcting’ anybody else. LOL… or something….

NCSoft probably said something like too. I’m not too sure when they said it.
I don’t think any analyst in KDB even care how GW2 is doing. People are probably taking what they said too seriously.

And the post I responded to was? I asked for stats to back up the 3rd rate statement.
BTW your response was even more constructive—-LOL
I would’ve bought HoT if it was available without the base game and I could just buy the expansion for 30-40 bucks. Right now I’m waiting for it to go on sale otherwise I don’t think it’s worth the money

The core game doesn’t come with HoT. It’s only an added bonus for new, or F2P, accounts where essentially the restrictions are removed.

Since you’re willing to buy the expansion + base game for ~35$ or buy the expansion alone for ~35$, then your problem isn’t with the inclusion of the base game but that you don’t like the price, which is a different thing altogether.
You can check the various retailers periodically or wait till the next expansion when both the base game and HoT are bundled in with it for free.

Those numbers are speculation from a third party, so they very well could be lying.
Man, people have been predicting doom for Guild Wars since Prophecies original release back in 2005. It just seemed too good to be true back then. And I won’t lie, in some ways GW2 feels too good to be true right now.
It’s not. It’s here. It was then, it’s here now and it’s probably going to be here tomorrow. Enjoy it and love it like it’ll be here forever and just maybe it will be.
