While playing on certain classes like rangers and mesmers especially, the shark chomp animation that comes with a critical hit hardly ever triggers making this legendary hardly worth the money for people who don’t play either a warrior, guardian, thief or a revenant underwater most of the time. The legendary itself doesn’t have too many outstanding qualities besides the shark chomp on crit either.

For those that don’t know, the shark chomp only has a chance to trigger on the ranger with dart, having a 10 seconds cd with 1 hit and a maximum of 3 targets.
On the mesmer, feigned surge, having an 8 seconds cd with 9 hits and 3 targets making the mesmer already a lot better but still kind of disappointing.
The guardian isn’t much better either with his main skill being Zealot’s Flurry. It has a 6 seconds cd, with 8 hits and 3 targets which may sound similar to the mesmer but considering you’ll have a much better view and probably land more hits and you’ll have a higher chance to trigger the chomp, it’s already quite the improvement.

I think this is an issue that could be fixed pretty easily by at least adding the auto attack to the list of skills that trigger the chomp and I really think it would be only fair to people like me who mostly use a mesmer in underwater fractals.

Other than that the animations look superb to me and I’m not trying to critizise the weapon for it’s art design. I think it’s probably one of the best ones out there in fact. It’s just that not all classes can get a proper use out of it and I think that’s why this legendary deserves to be reviewed again (especially for rangers because you’ll bascially get nothing from this legendary other than having a shark themed spear if you are using this).

i use that wep on necro when I do underwater fractal and the shark triggers like 90% of the time.
Every skill triggers the shark, auto attack included..
The shark triggers with critical hits, my necro is viper and I get the shark animation all the time hehe makes the fractal more enjoyable when I see hundreds of sharks bitting the jellyfish boss lol
Its the best underwater legendary imo, much better than the others underwater wep

Sounds like what should happen with all classes. I wonder why it doesn’t?

Not on every skill. #3 does not trigger the shark. There isn’t any class that triggers the shark with every skill. Every class does get a shark on at least one skill though. Ranger is probably worst off in that regard but one of its skills already comes with its own shark and another has a jellyfish.

On a Mesmer only the #2 seems to trigger it. To be fair it looks fun, but the sharks overlap so much it also seems buggy.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Yeah that was mostly my point. There are practically sharks flying out of your ears if you use a revenant with “Impossible Odds” for quickness and “Rapid Asssult”. It’s like the best thing to happen in this game. Try using a ranger instead. It’s just so disappointing. Not every class has this issue but some clearly do.

Those skills are kind of unrelated to the legendary though. And I don’t actually see a reason why the jellyfish attack shouldn’t be able to trigger the shark chomp either tbh. I don’t think this weapon need a lot of tweaking. It probably should just include skill 1 on every class and skill 5 on the ranger. But honestly skill 1 alone would already be quite the improvement

Exactly this! Why don’t all class autos trigger it? Is there even a reason at all?
I was so disappointed after crafting it exactly for this reason, and finding out it only triggers on skill 3 on my ranger, and thats the only class I’m ever playing underwater…
I hope arenanet sees this and “fixes” it.
