Tonight i went afk for 2 mins and she was dead. This event is a loot pinata and nothing more. Please add some mechanics, more life, or more daily spawn times so people can at least run to its spawn location before its destroyed in a blur of effect and mega server lag.

I’ve had it where my game would litterally freeze, and when it comes back it was dead. Karka Queen has become little more then any of the other world bosses sadly

I will agree that the eggs mechanic needs to be made more meaningful. Currently if there are enough players pounding on the Queen, you can kill her within 2 minutes even if nobody throws any eggs at all. She probably needs to be adjusted so her carapace works like Mai’s Shielding; if it’s at 50, she takes 0 damage from all sources.

Or how about the boss timers have more than one boss at a time so that EVERYONE isn’t trying to do this one boss right then. Spreading out the zerg across 3 or 4 bosses would take care of a lot of the complaints.

People will always gravitate toward the path of least resistance. That’s what the zerg is, at least, so long as there are enough people participating. I really feel like the answer to the zerg problem is twofold:

1. Make more awesome(-looking) gear that’s not nearly as difficult to obtain as legendaries, so people don’t spend all their time in-game grinding toward a far-fetched goal they may never achieve.

2. Add more lengthy, permanent content for solo players to experience so they just have better things to be doing than running around curb-stomping champ mobs and world bosses for arguably meaningless loot (what’s the point of having cool stuff if there’s not a whole lot you can do with it?)

At least, that’s the kind of stuff I would want. I mostly play alone, so I can’t do any of the good end-game content that does exist. I’d sure love to see some Cantha one of these days.

The problem with that idea is even if they spawned 4 different world bosses at the same time, splitting the zerg into 4 pieces, then 25% of 24 servers is still 6 servers worth of people. 6 servers worth of the playerbase would still probably fill a couple shards to capacity anyway.

So if you went to KQ you would still see the same number of people because the shard is full.

I like it better than when nobody did KQ. Now with megaservers, they should look at some changes. I would like to see the Southsun boss fight from the one-time event come back in some fashion.

This would slightly help mask the problem. Doesn’t change the fact that shadow behemoth spawns a jillion times during the day.

Follow the darkness into the depths, it’s more fun than the light can provide.

Ever since the megaserver update I’ve been saying the karka queen is not a megaboss like teq and the wurm and Anet should not treat it as such.

This is doubly true in a post-megaserver era where every shard is completely full of players who want to roflstomp the boss and where you must defeat the karka queen in order to unlock a trait. The latter to me is Anet admitting the karka queen isn’t that hardcore and everyone can do it.

Yeah, mega-server shards and shard caps will still result in full shards unless there are not enough folks interested at all. However, it might still be a good idea to have more than one boss at the same time, or to at least have the times change rather than remain static. Maybe have them roll forward an hour every day, so people who can only play at a given time can do something beside the same boss(es) every day.

Buy a better PC, really. My PC is 2.5 years old and handles the event without problems – even with full details. There is no ‘lag’ – it’s your bad machines that can’t handle this amount of polygons created by the huge player amount running around due to the megaserver.

they’re either pinatas or almost impossible to kill (no, not because they are hard. just because ppl are kittened and cant read/got filter on/ got commanders blocked for whatever reason. its hard because organizing 150 random ppl is nearly impossible)

if we were to get more challanging bosses, it got to be instanced content to let us choose who will we kill it with. marionette was piece of cake yet it was still failing a lot with full servers/overflows…

Yeah. Just imagine, having a pinata at a party for kids and all that comes out is stuff kids do not want.

That is pretty much how loot works in GW2. Calling any boss in GW2 a loot pinata is an insult for any real pinata.

Agreed. And it’s not even a good loot pinata, as mentioned above.
The obvious solution to the problem OP posed would be to stop referring to Karka as a Elite Boss, and drop her to her old 1-hour-cooldown rotation.

At least i think its a decent pinata, and i don’t want her to last as long as Jormag and get crappy loot as Behemoth or whatever.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

1. Legendaries don’t look awesome, several look pretty silly, people only wear them for bragging rights.
A bit like “the king is naked” story, every time I see a thief trying to look as bad kitten as possible, but he’s using a quip idk if I should laugh or cry.

2. There is PLENTY of solo content in game.
I know, but it’s not rewarding, make it rewarding
It’s solo for a reason, before champ loot bags champions would stay unkilled for hours or even days, hell on most maps they still do.
Players complained and complained how champions were silly and how much effort they put into killing one with their friends only to get a spike, after so much complain they introduced the champ bags and the rest is history, instant farm spots.

Any other rewards anet puts in place for solo players or small group (just like champ bags) will instantly get farmed and zerged.

It’s just scaling. The Karka Queen did used to cause trouble for players. Now that a full zerg hits her every time there just isn’t enough scaling. There’s so much lag you can’t dodge even if you want to.

Just installed a new R9 280x card yesterday .. and used Fraps to see my FPS .. at Karkaqueen it was still only 9-12 .. but i think it was better than before since it didn’t felt as laggy. However never checked the actual FPS before.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.

Get used to it. This is how your guy’s challenging content will always be.

Zergy laggy mesh of particle effects with huge amounts of free riders = gw2 challenging content.

Shout out to the guys who try their best to make these events worthwhile though.
