Yeah, cleared the 4th settlement and she spawned so far away she was dead before I could get there.

This is designed failure.

the furthest away it can get from a wp is the centre of the map. I have not had a problem running there even with the mass mob attacking her.

At a Karka Queen event yesterday I saw a player complain that he could not get back to the spawn in time (he was trying to get through Steampipe Steading which was overrun with karka). For now it’s better to go around or wp to come up from the SW.

I remember we had the same kind of thing at Shadow Behemoth with the pre-events for a long time and I was glad to see ArenaNet add a new portal that spawns after the pre’s are done that takes you back to the spawn point.

Believe the OP was saying that a Legendary World Boss shouldn’t be melting like butter and die so quickly that if you’re not fast on your feet you may not make it.

Exactly. Of course it’s not going to happen a lot, but still, this is not completely thought out design. One chest ain’t the end of the world and I like the concept but the design should have included allowances for very larger groups and for when the last settlement is on one end, she shouldn’t then spawn near the other end.

Believe the OP was saying that a Legendary World Boss shouldn’t be melting like butter and die so quickly that if you’re not fast on your feet you may not make it.

It could probably scale better but there’s a fine line between too much health and not enough.

I remember when this event first launched, some people swore that the KQ event would never be done, that the pre-events required too much coordination, that the boss had too much health, etc. My how our playerbase has grown

I’d like to see it adjusted so that it takes a little more than just smashing 1 to kill her. Obviously there is a tiny bit of coordination to get all 4 camps, but her battle itself could use some more mechanics imo.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

This is my stance as well. The world bosses need to be proofed against mindless zerging, even if they aren’t pulled to the same coordination difficulty as Wurm and Teq.

I’ve never seen the Karka Queen melt like butter. She has two phases, and each phase has quite a bit of HP. This isn’t a design failure, but rather a possible bug. That, or it’s the player’s fault for not knowing the proper order to take settlements.

Only failure is on your part. There is only one place she can spawn that’s not near a wp, so get there faster. Save that settlement for last so everyone can be there. And then wp if she spawns somewhere else.

Instead of blaming the game, look at yourself. Git gud.

Just use the next WP to her spawn. I don’t see the need to give another Mob gazillions of HPs just because someone is too cheap to pay 1,40 silver for porting.
I have often just waitet at Pearl Isle and when she spawened portet to next WP, and never had a problem to reach here in time, mostly she had maybe 10-20% lost.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I haven’t had a problem with this, but you must know the map well. If you run from the other spawn spots (the black lion trade post boat) northeast, you just run up, to the guild misison area near the undeep water, then, there is a rock formation you can jump on, take shortcut, go up, near the camp (with all the wooden pillars, often event here too), and you basically arrived at the queen.

Admittedly for classes without leaps it might be close call (especially necromancers). This is more a profession, then a boss failure though imo.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
