Karma Boosters *POOF*
You can still use them while doing events.
Don’t panic.
But they did warn you and even reverted the original patch 19 days ago that implemented that change.
Please get in the habit of reading release notes every time you get a patch. It will save you a lot of grief and give you a heads up on changes.
As for consumable karma boosters of which I also have a lot of, you can use them to boost the Karma you get from completing events. It’s obvious they are shifting to have Karma be a more scarce currency so every bit will help once your current pool of Karma is used up.
they did warn you….read sungams post….( btw lol at you thinking cantha is getting agony on mobs…)
They should have warned players that consumables were going to be useless in the next patch, but they didn’t.
1. Buy this game to you mom
2. She starts playing and keep you informed about changes in game that everyone else knows of
3. ????
4. Profit.

They also increased the amount of karma you get from the jugs, bottles, flasks etc. by 50%. So when consuming them, they gave you a free, permanent karma booster.
All this was covered in the patch notes from a month ago. It was supposed to have been communicated better but there was an internal problem of some sort, so they rolled back the change for a month so that people could prepare for it.
They also increased the amount of karma you get from the jugs, bottles, flasks etc. by 50%. So when consuming them, they gave you a free, permanent karma booster.
And they also reduced daily and monthly rewards to 600 and 6000 respectivelly from pre “buff” 4500 and 45000.
86% less karma from what it used to be main source is not much of an increase. (91% percent less if you consider buffed jugs to add insult to injury)

Said source (especially the daily) made Karma gained from other sources rather insignificant.
So in my book, it’s a good change. But maybe it’s a bit on the high side. Could’ve just halved it it to like 2000 karma on the daily. And let’s be honest, the Essences of Luck aren’t worth the effort.
I’m pretty sure they actually expected people to play the game to get karma instead of relying on their daily and monthly jugs and karma boosters to more than double the amount of karma you could get from them.
So unfair!
They should have warned players that consumables were going to be useless in the next patch, but they didn’t. Now I got a whole ton of consumables sitting in the bank.
WHY ANET!?!?!? WHYYYYYYY!?!
Hi everybody,
Today we made adjustments to karma where the amount of karma granted from consumable karma items was increased and karma boosts no longer affected the amount of karma gained from consumable items.
We intended to message this change ahead of time to be fair to everyone, however this did not happen, and we apologize for not giving you advance notice.
The lack of advance warning resulted in some people losing out on karma that they would have otherwise gained by using boosts with the karma they’d saved up.
We will be temporarily rolling back the karma change in a hotfix to allow people the opportunity to turn in their karma with any buffs they intended to use. This temporary rollback will be in effect until the game update on September 3.
*Please note, while this temporary rollback is in effect: the in-game text for the karma consumabkitten oster found on the Gem Store will incorrectly state that it does not affect karma gained from consumable items.
We will also be reimbursing the people who used their karma during the period when the initial change was in effect with as close to the correct amount of karma as possible.
We’re really sorry about the frustration this caused and we will make every effort in the future to make you aware of changes like this ahead of time.

Doing daily and monthly counts as playing the game. And its a lot more of playing the game than farming event chain of choice nonstop which people did before them.
And boosters were useless before, introduction of jugs “fixed” them to something people might actually buy to use and not something that gathes dust in inventory.
FYI, karma boosters still affect what has become the best source of karma in the game: doing fractals below your current fractal level. http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1lqrjl/karma_nerfs_got_you_down_you_can_still_make_20000/
Since the new patch, consumables that increase the amount of karma you earn, no longer affects the amount of karma you get. What is the point of having consumables that increase the amount of karma you get now? It is completely useless now.
I have been piling up my consumables in the bank (have around 60 consumables that increases karma) AND NOW I CAN’T USE THEM!!! They should have warned players that consumables were going to be useless in the next patch, but they didn’t. Now I got a whole ton of consumables sitting in the bank.WHY ANET!?!?!? WHYYYYYYY!?!
they did warn and even reverted karma to normal for a couple days so i guess you missed all that

No doing daily and monthly counts as something you do while playing the game.
Daily and monthly were put into the game to reward players that don’t grind in one spot for gold or karma.
