Hi all,

Quick question/observation from someone who hasn’t played since June.

I sunk a good 400hrs or so during my last playthrough, and thoroughly enjoyed it. During my time with GW2 I’d never really delved into PvP/HotM/WvW much at all.
My time was mostly spent levelling (Have 80Mes, 80Guard, 80Rang) and doing World Completion, Dungeons, FotM, World Bosses etc.

Then my friend introduced me to the Karma Train in EotM.

I was hooked. It was great fun for a while, but then it started to burn out a bit.
My issue at this point was, I found the rewards from eotm karma-training to be a little too good…

The t6 mats, the gear drops (I think I got lucky with some ascended), the karma-fest and the ridiculous amount of exp.

I know it’s a strange complaint, but I really like to maximise my rewards in limited playtime. Therefore, once I was kind of “over” the karma train, I found it hard to enjoy anything else and got burnt out due to lackluster rewards.

So please, answer me this:

Is my complaint even valid anymore? Are things different now 6 months later?
Was my complaint ever valid? Or was it just a misconception?

I’m so close to being convinced to return, and I know, in my own stupid way, the answer to this question will probably be the decider for me.

Thanks in advance.

Why not log in and see for yourself? Rewards haven’t really changed that much in-game, but they are probably due for an overhaul in the next few months, seeing as they’ve been discussing it for the last year or so.

Because we can’t be angry about both?

Your complaint is valid. More recently developed areas have started showering us in loot vs the original design of a severe lack of loot. Those that haven’t been touched since release, like map exploration, are far behind the most recent maps like Dry Top, Silverwastes, and EotM in terms of sheer rewards. Things are (very slowly) being updated to be more in line, like the daily/monthly changes coming up on 12/16, but updating map exploration isn’t something tackled yet.

Hold on till tmrw when all WvW maps will become tottal karma trains then you just have 2 new maps to do it and maybe even c few fights. Just 10x worse rewards.
Honestly mate the gaem is DED.

The rewards in the new maps are a good point that I had overlooked. Also, doing events in Orr can be pretty rewarding, too.

It’s true that, compared to the old standards, Orr was pretty good. Only hardcore dungeons can compare to Silverwastes, though. The amount of money I’ve made there in recent weeks is quite obscene*, and I don’t mean running around chest farming.

*Obscene meaning I’ve made over 1.5 thousand gold from that area alone since the chest nerf.

They made the rewards in EotM better than most areas of the game so that they would get people in that map. That way their metrics say they created a new WvW map that is a huge success. They have loot starved this game so that any new area they put out can easily have better rewards than other areas, so that they can have metrics that say how successful the new maps they put out are. Now if they adjust the other wvw maps to have equal rewards do you think EotM will have as many players? What if they gave other pve maps the same quality of rewards as in SW?

How is anyone supposed to take this seriously?

Back to on topic: OP please don’t complain about loot, finally things are turning around.

That is obscene. It’s a shame I can’t play in the new zones. They stutter at 1fps for me.
