Whats the official stance of Anet on the state of Karma? I do agree that karma pre nerf was a tad over done, but now where karma starved.

There are basically two groups of people those with millions and millions of karma and those who are karma starved. Its gotten so bad that I don’t even spend karma when leveling alts because I know later down the road (for acceded or legendary) I will need it.

Currently there are only 2 reliable methods of farming Karma… Low level fractals or event farming.

assuming someone event farms there way to 250 obsidian shards needed for a legendary it would take them 1750 events to get the needed karma. I understand there are other ways to get obsidian shards in the game I am only using this to give a example of how hard karma is to come by now days.

You are preaching to the choir, man. Everyone knows this, just like they know this is just another game gate.

The daily activity awards karma consistently, as well. I love running the sprint, so it’s where a lot of my karma is coming from nowadays.

I am of the opinion that it would have been better if some more interesting choices could have been offered, rather than stomping the amount of karma one gets daily. I think many of the laurel offerings could have translated well to the karma vendors, to make it a more desirable currency. Dyes for karma? Yes, please.

Karma comes from Events, Daily meta, Monthly meta, Dungeons, Fractals, etc. But if you want lots of Karma, then you should WvW.

I am guessing you hadnt played in a while cause

Daily I rarely get karma, Monthly I get a jug of karma work like 2k karma once a month, Dungeons give no Karma unless you get a champ back which has like a 1% chance to drop a vial of karma worth 100 karma. Event’s, Fractal’s, and WvW seem to be the only ways to farm Karma. Only problem is with event’s u get diminishing returns.

Yes, I would report this as a bug. You should always get a laurel, a karma consumable and a luck consumable, with an occasional fourth item thrown in.

Nerfing the daily karma to 1/8 of what it was previously was a bit too extreme.

These days I get most of my karma from Activities (I play 3 or 4 rounds of the daily Activity, and can usually come in first, so that’s 3000 – 4000 karma), and weekly Tequatl kills (you get about 10,000 for a successful run, not counting the karma from the events along the way).

Karma starved here as well. Trying to save karma for a legendary but just burned through it for shards for an ascended sword. Those of us who use karma for things instead of hording it shouldnt be punished for using it.

I haven’t had an interest in legendary weapons, but through ascended crafting and getting a few temple items, it has taken me a month to get back 100K. Play about three hours a night. Did the math, glad I’m not just starting the game and want a legendary. Whoa.

?? I came back after a few months break and had about 800k karma, has taken me around 2 weeks to clock up over the million mark.

Still seems pretty easy to me though I do play a fair number of hours per week. WvW and lots of events/bosses.
