Many of the things purchaseable through the Karmic Converter have very dishonest descriptions. Trophy Bags, for instance. The description reads: “Contains a [Shard/Core/Lodestone]”, but they often contain a Pile of Essence instead.

Likewise, the Bag of Educational Supplies claims to contain “Scrolls and Tomes of Knowledge”, making no mention of the possibility of opening it and in fact only receiving a single Experience Booster.

I realize, of course, that like most topics I create concerning things that don’t affect the overwhelming majority of the playerbase, this will likely find itself on page 8 with 0 replies by tomorrow, but…I can’t say I didn’t try.

The wiki does show the possibilities for each of the things you can get…but I agree the mouse-over in-game should be clearer on what you get. The mouse-over in game should be clearer on LOTS of things, this is just one of those many things.

I always buy the shards – if I have a lot of karma, I buy the daily 3 shards for 5k. If I’m under 10k karma, I wait until it’s a 5 or 10 shard buy.

The rest of the stuff is pretty easy to get, but I like the constant discount on obsidian.

I agree that ANet should do a better job of matching descriptions to contents.

A pile of essence is a type of lodestone. There is one each for each kind of elemental and dragon. Essence is for Zhaitan.
