Keep failing Marionette
AG have completed the Marionette, at least once.
And the fact that other servers have it more or less on farm and even overflows complete it quite often would suggest that there is really nothing to fix.
People simply need to organize, which clearly AG can do.

The other servers don’t have it on farm, and OF still fail most of the time. Organization doesn’t do anything to stop bad players from failing their platforms.
Open up the platforms so I can finish this and stop wasting my time.
Lol. Not everybody bring their level 80 to the events (not everybody have a level 80 in this zone). Also, some people didn’t see all the possible champion so they don’t know yet how to fight them. And finally, every server need some organization. 5 Commanders making sure that everybody split evenly before the event (20-25ppl in each lane) but are also active during the event to reinforce lane at the right time.
I would first suggest the people doing this event read dulfy’s guide. All the info is there on how to advance the event and which champs are at the end of each lane.
Secondly you need around 20+ players per lane and a ‘roaming’ team of 5-10 to deploy where need arises is a good idea. Do not stack DPS classes in one or two lanes, you need spread the classes out. It helps if your server has TS to assist in lane coordination and shifting players both before and during the event.
This is what we did on Gunnar’s Hold last evening to complete the event.
It’s because people see a champ and think “ZEEEEERGGGG!!”
When it actuality you need to look at the champ and recognize it’s mechanics. It’s in the description below the nameplate.
So when you see five players hitting a champ from the front (when it can only be damaged from the back), or when you see a player kiting a champ away from mines, you know you have baddies.
I think that if a group has killed a champ and destroyed the mechanism they should be able to go to another group. One slow group and the entire event fails which I don’t think is good.
Thing is, it is not just the platform champs. It is critical players keep the mobs from entering the gates at all times.
As long as the super cannon bar is low, you can afford to fail a platform or two and cycle though the champ rotation. If players are AFK in the lanes and the mobs fill the cannon bar, the that is not possible.
AG completed marionette. Several times now. Thing is, most of us from AG end up in some overflow, and we complete marionette there almost every time. So bunch of us stopped even trying to get to main, and are focusing on joining same overflow…

yup and keep the siege repaired.
defend the lanes, reinforce as needed.
It was a very fun fight last night
Long story short… if the people you find yourself with have no idea what they are doing and how to handle encounters beyond “Press 1 to Win”… that’s not really Arena.net’s fault. Sorry.

It is Anets fault that I can’t support those weaker players. You can do great in your lane, just laying waste to anything and everything, get to the platform and finish your boss, but the platform next to you wiped. There is nothing you can do about it. I can’t choose not to play with those people, and maybe they just got unlucky, but a small handful of people can fail the event for everyone.
It’s actually straightforward, though Anet hasn’t gotten it yet. You design open world PvE for the player you find there, i.e., a wide diversity of players in terms of skill, and the occasional griefer. The equivalent of raiding does not belong in open world PvE. Failure is not really fun, especially when you are not really being challenged. And, of course, there are the technical reasons. You can’t even just go to the event and participate—good luck with that. There are a number of dimensions to the design flaw and they are all fairly obvious reasons why you wouldn’t do it this way.
The most critical issue I’ve seen is that there’s just not enough people. Once you go onto the platforms, your entire lane is split up 5 ways. If you don’t have at least 20 people, some platforms just aren’t going to down a champ unless everyone on it is top notch. Also, going through the gate and being dead by the time the loading screen clears doesn’t help either.
Also, Lane 3 has a pass/fail mechanic that I only even learned about yesterday after 8+ runs (with 2 wins). The camp drops bombs that explode on the whole platform, with no warning (no red circles). They are very small and the only way to spot them is to already know they are there. Or to have lots of time to watch things after you are dead. I’m sure this is why OF’s fail at 2 chains so often.

We’ve succeeded 11 attempts in a row now on SoR.
Communicate, explain, encourage, be helpful. If someone appears lost, pm them with advice. If a group fails their platform, pm them and let them know how they can succeed next time.
Personally, I think the Twisted Marionette is the best encounter they’ve added to this game.

I love the twisted Marionette, but that’s not to say it’s perfect. I don’t like how one bad lane can sink everyone and I don’t like how your achievements are dependent upon others in your lane doing their job.
They’re my achievements, I shouldn’t have to depend on people I can’t even help to get them.
To me, that’s bad design.
We actually made it this time! awesome.
This is really a good, fun, fight. Yes, you are dependent on other people, but it serves to get people talking, calling out tactics and encouragement, interacting with other players. That’s a good thing. I can’t win unless I help other people win. kittening at them for losing doesn’t help me win, but explaining and encouraging does help me win.
I like it.

i think that this game got problem whit to many noobs i cant do it whit days and im camping it whit ours THIS IS NOT FUN i always do my platform but some noob out there gona fail not gona bring stability or not gona rezz fallen and BOOm kids are OP

Actually, that’s the problem, I can’t help them win. If their platform fails all I can do is watch the timer count down. There’s only so much you can do to help those keyboard turning, mouse clicking players.
And the main reason platforms fail is because people keep assuming that everyone knows exactly what to do.
Every time I have seen people giving clear instructions before and during the fight, we have cleared it without much trouble.

No offense, but this topic is a mirror of the current human condition. Yeah, social students love this kind of material.
So, we can see how humanity got selfish and individualist on our modern society. You realize that the voices complaining about the mechanics are more numerous than those who enjoyed it. And why? People don’t want to fail the whole event if the next platform fails, which is reality itself for a lot of us. A company will fail as a whole if a very small group within it fails. Oh yeah, good luck you people trying to help a startup grow. So instead of trying to help the others who failed (as some of you suggested), they just want to do the other guy’s job and be gone with it. Give me my reward!
Oh, but this is a game. A fantasy game. So it should be like we wanted reality to be. I don’t want to learn anything from my gaming experience. I want it to be a completely waste of time on a “land” that will never exist in real life, with experiences that will never help me with anything, ever.

Well look at it this way if you could just spam 1 it would be just a zerg event but you cant just spam 1 well if you did your being very worthless in the fight both the def part and the attk part. So what is it do you want super easy fight that you spam 1 but win all the time or do you want to need to think about combat and do more then what on your skill bar and maybe lose a lot?

Not too hard. Some people can’t kill the champ on their platform.
I would first suggest the people doing this event read dulfy’s guide. All the info is there on how to advance the event and which champs are at the end of each lane.
The issue isn’t one of ignorance, it’s one of gross incompetence.

Pretty much. Some people suck, and will always suck. There’s nothing you or I can do about this, and that’s the issue with these large events.
