i don’t find changing keybinds any good. the skill pictures will stay in the same place even if you bind number 3 skill to the number 4 button. it beats me as to why it was done like this as custom keys are central to any mmo. to add to the confusion, the changes still apply on weapon swap so unless you have memorized your skills you’re gonna get confused.

i use a logitech g600 for anything past 5. it’s probably easier to just leave the 1-5 skills as they are and try to get used to them.

Bristleback can’t hit anything? Let’s fix the HP bug instead.

Let me tell you the most important (for me) keybind I have.

That is making the center mouse button = the ‘1’ button. That is clicking the scroll wheel (not scrolling it, leave that alone).

I drive with my mouse hand and do not use the arrow keys the way games in 1990 taught us (ala DOOM), so if you are a pure keyboard person this will not help you.

However if you drive with the mouse in your right hand and WASD on your left, this will make your life so much easier. You may never use Q & E (I don’t).

Also, it is not mapped by default, but you can map “target next enemy”. I recommend the left tab for this in conjunction with the center mouse button edit above. You will find that sometimes you need to retarget and hitting tab with left ring finger is perfect. Anet got the targeting really perfect on this game I think, hats off to them.

I have other binds i use but those two are the only ones I find absolutely necessary beyond the default mapping.

May I also suggest programmable mouse with a couple of thumb buttons for ‘V’ and ‘F1’, and if you are going all out consider a fragpedal for 4 more keys bound to foot movement (although I am just getting the feel for that myself and can only recommend starting with 2-4 by foot).

My keybindings are very strange and others will give you better advice than me.

I am commenting to recommend a gaming mouse. Combining keyboard keybindings with a gaming mouse keybindings is excellent.

I used to use a Razer Naga and now use a Logitech G-600. I recommend both.

This.

I bought a Naga recently and can’t imagine playing GW2 without it any more. Having my 6-0 skills binded to the side of the mouse where they’re a mere thumb click away is a HUGE help, and significantly improves my speed and reactivity in combat.

Remember when our developers talked about “strengthening the core game”?
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.

I still say mapping ‘1’ to the center button is the ultimate base.

It autotargets the closest and starts the autoattack chain.
