I know the hitbox is the same size but is it just me or do melee enemies try for your actual model when deciding if they need to move closer before swinging?

I have a Charr Engineer and an Asura Engineer. The Charr takes much more damage when kiting. Enemies that chase my zippy lil’ Asura trying to hit her just stand there swinging away at my fat Charr not needing to chase him.

(Yes I know they would hit both from the same spot when attacking because of the hitbox being equal, I’m talking about them deciding between attacking or moving closer.)

Could it be more of a perception issue – similar to “the smaller races run faster”?

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Maybe no one has anything to say because they didn’t notice it themselves. I can’t say yay or nay to it.

Here’s the problem though. Are both characters you’re using the same profession or playing solo?

Because different professions or builds seem to draw more aggro generally. We run dungeons with an engineer, who uses a bomb kit that heals. We have to rez him a lot, because he gets attacked more than anyone else. I think it’s the combination of damage output and healing that makes him draw so much aggro.

My mesmer is a sylvari and she doesn’t do as much damage directly, she doesn’t heal and she hardly ever takes aggro.

So what’s your charr running and what’s your asura running? It could make a big difference.
