So as many of you know, whenever a perceived inappropriate word is being used in a forum post, the censorship hammer smashes the bad word into “kitten.” For example, this word will become kitten nal.

This is a formal petition that for all future censorship instances, bad words instead be changed to “skritt” rather than “kitten.” That is all.

But I love kittens. Why do you think my home instance is full of them?

My personal favourite remains the fifty-five hp monk. Admitedly, that build was for kittens, but still!

And as often, the censor list is the same for every language supported, so the French ain’t allowed to talk about showers, because the word for that is dou*** (fitting isn’t it?).

It does get frustrating when something is kittenized because certain letters happen to be next to each other. Then people have to work out what the original was. Hard enough for english speakers sometimes so I can only imagine how it is if you use another language!

Meanwhile, if someone swears and does a non-expected typo it goes right through.

I wonder if there is a way to let people pick between their favorite form of censorship or no censorship for that matter.

I would ask for the filter to be more refined. It’s annoying that when you type “hasn’t” followed by “it”, it will turn out as “hasn’kitten”.

Edit: Okay, apparently that doesn’t happen anymore. But I’m sure there are other examples where it does still happen.

Whenever I see wizard’kitten it gives a completely different impression from the intended hat belonging to a wizard.

You actually find random insertions of the string “kitten” to make things more readable and less idiotic? Remember that it is not just swears, it is when two words in a row produce a swear word with a space in between. There are legit words that come up here (like the shatterer when abbreviated) that get munged.

Us guild wars players who want to overthrow the regime of the kitten filter and put in a kinder, gentler Skritt filter need to organize.

My suggestions to those who want to join the cause are
1) make posters declaring DEATH TO THE KITTEN FILTER!!!.
2) go to your local Wal-Mart, 7-Eleven, Kmart or other locations where influential, important people shop.
3) walk up and down on the sidewalk with your poster. Hand out pamphlets and ask for donations to the cause
4) if you get arrested try to get on the local news to get the cause publicity.

Together we can win!
