Krait event in Sparkfly overbuffed!
Just what the world needed – steroidal Krait.
I did that event 3 times today and it wasn’t hard in any of them.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
It is great that (some) events scale in such a way as to provide an actual challenge now, instead of just throwing 3x more normal enemies at us.
I agree with CobaltSixty. It was a joke before, now it adequately scales with the actual amout on players in the area. If you do it with just 4 peeps, it’s of course not the way it is with 40 players waiting on Tequatl. And I got my monthly veteran slayer achievement rather quickly done

But not with the number of players that are doing the event.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I think there is an issue with it scaling because there are ALOT of people nearby waiting for Tequatyl, but not participating in the Krait event.
Yeah, we downed Teq and went to trash our loot and everyone got bumrushed by krait.
You forgot to say that it’s “overbuffed” IN YOUR OPINION, hurr durr!
I still haven’t seen this event. It’s never been up when I’m in the zone. I can’t wait to see the ocean of downed players from a bunch of krait though, haha.

I have (it’s almost impossible NOT to see it, due to it’s frequency, unless you have never been near Teq waypoint). The event is generally fine and can be done quite easily, even when severely upscaled (with at least one champion in every wave – at the moment the record i saw was 8 champs in one event). I bet the real problem here was culling – people went in after Teq to sell their loot, and got killed before they noticed there’s any enemy around them. I’m pretty sure most of them didn’t even try to fight.

Well to be fair due to the horrible lag and culling I don’t normally see much of ANYTHING in that zone when the dragon is up and more often than not also end up stuck in the ground as soon as I WP in, so I don’t hang around all that long. If it’s just people getting killed by enemies they cant’ see or react to, I’m glad I missed it. >_>
It’s great that they are tweaking things a bit to make them more diverse. I think they buffed the krait a wee bit much though. I was getting 2 shotted on my guardian at 65.
It was crazy there last night. The boss was one-shotting Guardians. =O The crazy lag from guesting doesn’t help.
it seems to me that the more people you have there, the more difficult the event gets…i was doing the same event on low pop server (3 people participating) and there was no champs…
Blackgate Militia
it is a bit buffed but I have more of an issue of the pve culling than I do with the event being “over” buffed
It’s far too easy to get one-shot from full health from the Krait in that event now. I think they need to tone down the “special skills” the Krait were given because as it stands, they are not “entertaining” to fight in the least bit. They are annoying.

Did that event yesterday after some kitten reset the Tequatl timer for my server and caused a huge group of people to port in for nothing. I will agree, the Krait in that event are way too strong. I’m running a Pow/Vit/Tough Warrior with 0/20/20/30/0 and I was still getting 1 or 2 shotted by the Veterans.

Yes, and this part of the issue. I wanted to see what everyone was talking about so I did it several times the day after patch. First event was no problem; I duoed it with another guardian. It was a good deal more challenging than before due to abilities of and buffs to the Krait, but manageable. We didn’t see a champ spawn.
Over the next two times the body count began to rise. It was near Teq time and there were more people hanging around (not doing the event). The moderate sized group seriously struggled. By the last run the rez me tombstones were flying in full force. I even went down once due to multi-champ inattention.
Is it impossible? No. It’s simply inappropriate as implemented for its intended purpose. I’m fine with a DE chain that ends in a champ fight. However, having them in multiples here and at pent/shelt is just bad design. To begin with, champs are worthless bags of HP. There is a reason we avoid them and it isn’t because we’re not up to the challenge. So, having them thrown in our face is not going to make for a happy playerbase.
The previous patch took a step in the right direction in making Orr less annoying. 2/26 takes the game two steps back.

What is with the guesting meme? I’m starting to think it’s a deliberate cover for the obvious server issues that have only been getting worse, not better and started to get worse well before guesting arrived.
The problems really came to a head after the four hour server maintenance a while back, not the introduction of guesting.
BTW, I’d add that those of us on high pop servers can also guest on low pop servers. I’m going to bet the lag isn’t much better on the low pop servers either.

Arenanet have always told us in the past that DEs scale based on the number of active participants and that determination is made at almost a second to second basis.
The recent behavior seems to indicate this is no longer the case.
I have to wonder if this isn’t one of the causes of the lag issues at large group events. The events themselves are reaching difficulty thresholds they could never have reached before, including more mob spawns, more special abilities, more complex AI etc., than they could ever have reached when the servers were properly polling participation levels.
It’s fine. I haven’t seen a group fail that event yet even though a lot of players tend to go down during it. That means it’s fine in my book.
Let there be at least a few events in this game that are actually somewhat challenging, please……….or at least some that I can’t solo.

Perhaps you should have stayed… IN THE MOUNTAINS!
Same thing noticed in Kessex Hill (Triskell Quay). The “new” Kraits have now 15x Might PLUS Fury PLUS Celerity. They are just stronger than Veterans.
I’m very much open to more challenging gameplay, but I selfishly wish it came in areas other than"convenient waves of easy-to-kill mobs on which I farm fine crafting materials.
Proof that no-one actually wants challenging content.
