LA and new characters
If you want to go directly to another starting area, there are auto-unlocked waypoints you can use; no reason to go through three cities if you care about that tiny amount of time.
love it every time I take a new toon to LA for the first time !!! I enjoy doing all the time .and never get tried or fed up at all with the cinema
I find it easy when I get placed in a new spot in la by this . as it helps me to unlock that are much more easy and faster too .
and I have no problems with load times with LA . or any other map with my s/s/d drive . load times for any map is give or take 10 seconds at the best or worst case .but I also keep my firewalls set to high blocking uneed traffic from the internet . also too I use guild wars 2 launch buddy . to get the most lowest server ping rates and faster loading time

Oh how I miss the days when I had this game on my ssd! Almost instant load times were the best thing ever!! Sadly I needed to prioritise the ssd space for other things, so had to move the game back to my hdd, where load times are slow, and loading LA is painful Still saving for a bigger ssd so I can go back to the quick loading days.
SSD’s are so cheap these days you shouldn’t have any problem getting one with lots of space for a good price. Check out the prices online. My 400g SSD cost me $200 Canadian and that was at a local shop. From what I’m seeing online you can get a lot better than that now for the same price

Is what you speak of on mac as well?
I’m tired of having 30 seconds to 3 minute loading screens. . .

honestly I see why it should not work at all. not sure tho on what paid anti virus’s software your using . but it should work and if you not got the space to add a s/s/d drive to your mac . if you got a usb 3.0 you can also add a new ssd drive that way too. might have to use win or something for it if your not using that already but it should work fully for your mac

if you not got another spot on your motherboard to add another ssd drive . BUT you have got a usb 3.0 slot on your motherboard . you can always add a new ssd drive again . and it is very cheep to add them using the usb 3.0 port,s just need the cable is all

There are enough sata ports to add one, but what I’m planning to do is to just save and get a 1tb one so I can replace my hdd altogether. I’ve still got SSD for the OS, software & work projects, it’s just the hdd I’m using for games & media storage I want to replace.

Yeah SSDs have dropped a lot, and I could add a small one quite cheap to use for only this game. But I’m planning to get a 1tb one so I can replace my game & storage Hdd completely. I can pick one up around £230-250, but finances aren’t good right now, so there’s a few things ahead of it lol

ahh ok I can get it fully now and I am not sure at all about uk pricing . as I am from the usa myself .
but sounds like you got a good plan for me I found it more easy to add a 250 gig ssd drive from amazon . till the prices or a good sale comes for the 1tb ones
You know you can just hit the Escape key to cancel the cinematic, right?
edit: Moyayuki is more correct than me on this. I knew there was a fast way to cancel it, I do it without paying much attention to the mechanics. Yep, it’s a Skip button like in dungeon and story dialogues.
(edited by Donari.5237)
Every time I enter LA with a new toon, if I move my cursor over the screen, a button in the bottom right corner pops up that lets me skip the cinematic entirely.
Guild: Moonlit Renegades (Moon)
Highest-Level Toon: Markus Emmerich, 80 Human Scrapper
i think that, like anyone staring a new character, likes to avoid LA like the plague.
the reason is because of the starting cinema when you visit LA for the first time (whith that new character), it not only forces the cinema it also places you on a completely different place then where you should be placed.
Wow, so you lose about a minute of your life. Tragic.
Also, it is not the only place that “forces a cinematic” when a character enters the map for the first time. Dry Top and the Silverwastes do, too. Also, there is a Skip option for all those cutscenes.
so ppl cry about story cinema not being skipable while that takes about 10-20 seconds but when there are 2 long loading screens and a cinema that can NOT be skipped WHILE the loading screen is there it’s all ok.
SERIOUSLY?
I think you can hit ESC to cancel it can’t you? The cinematic I mean.

So 40 seconds out of the literal hundreds of hours you’ll put into a character under normal play is so soul crushingly significant, that you can’t even be bothered to stand up and get a soda while you let it roll of on its own? And gods forbid having to open the map once to WP to a spot in the city like do several times a day.
